    Facelift Coolant expansion bottle change

Anyone replacing a "Mit Silikat" with one without a silicate pouch should really dump the old G13, which required regular "dosing" with extra silicate to maintain its effectiveness as a corrosion "preventer", flush with distilled water and refill with G12evo which does not need or use silicate.

    Cam Belt

Maybe not so in respect of water pump, if it is an engine from the EA211 family then the water pump is driven from the rear(gearbox end) of the engine from a small toothed drive belt - from a cam shaft mounted pulley). If it is from the EA211 family, then personally I'd replace the cambelt and...

S4 B8 lower control arm kit

Seeing as I've bumped into this thread while looking for something else, I'll just add that I did eventually replace all the front suspension arms and converted from M12 "front lower arm and its ball joint" to M14 and got the car's 4 wheel alignment checked/adjusted - its "before" figures were...

Has anyone tried AUTODOC MARKETPLACE yet?

I think that your plan needs to be to pay for the order protection or order checking - whatever it is called. My mate bought a clutch kit for an old SAAB 96 and the plate was wrong, he had (surprisingly) accepted this offered extra service so there was not a problem with returns. I've used them...

A little something for those owners of what are more commonly referred to as the " Audi RS4 / Audi TT" alloys.

Yes, I've been there done that, my first time was when buying a set of 16" 5 spoke B5 wheels for my same age VW Passat and feeling the need to fit VW wheel centres, it took a long time, initially bought a set of cheap small centres and planned to use a hole cutter on the original Audi centres -...

Audi Revolut F1 Team officially unveiled

No update from the first track running, doesn't sound like it went too well due to engine failures - not good enough I'd think.

    Service

@Dasarab , I don't think that that would work as they will be buying in oil in bulk and so not in 5ltr containers, they are still being creative sh1ts though. I gave up on Edinburgh Audi after they continued to accept timed booking for workshop jobs including MOT - but didn't adhere to doing...

    Winter Prep

For the pollen filter, I always go from a carbon dusted one up to a Frecious version when using MANN.

    Heated mirror wire broken

I got the impression that the old or original mirror had been disposed off, so that option seems to have gone I think. I've supplied him with the part numbers of both versions. Edit:- although, if the original backing frame is still fitted to that car, the Audi part number sticker should still...

    Heated mirror wire broken

A friend has a 2018 A6 and was telling me that his driver's side mirror glass "fell out"! Why he was telling me about this having happened was that his trusted workshop sorted it out for him - but now the mirror heater is not working so annoying him as typically he finds that he uses the mirror...

    Press clutch to start issue

Thanks for that update, maybe I'll leave my slightly lengthen push rod in the boot for now, or until I genuinely find that I'm back to having a starting issue in deepest/coldest days of winter - remembering of course that if I do have a starting issue and end up not being able to start that car...

Replacing all front suspension arms on a 2011 S4

No just a low priced air hammer, but even using the correct air hammer adaptor, there is only so much hammering that I fancied applying as eventually the bolt end does get "belled out" and needs trimmed up "now and again". Maybe you could argue/reason that if I bought a longer "throw" air...

Replacing all front suspension arms on a 2011 S4

Well, if you feel you are going to be as (un)lucky as me, I'd cut to the chase and remove the uprights complete with arms off the car. The TREs need disconnecting and you need to BIG ball joint splitter for that - in fact you need a BIG ball joint splitter for all the taper joints, and the drive...

    A4 Structural rust

Yes, there does tend to be a "ledge" behind there that tends to fill up with "road junk" - really something that every B8 A4/A5 should be aware of and clean out every other year or so.

    Bumper fastenings?

Very very late into this thread, but, I had this issue after getting my 2011 B8 S4 rear bumper repainted - I pointed this out to the Audi approved repair centre manager, he just pressed it in hard and of course it came back out again, so as I just wanted to get away from there I thought that I'd...

    Press clutch to start issue

Well, as I probably said, I'm a retired test engineer and really "configured" to find out what is happening and how things are now, before making changes. I've now applied a "bonding sleeve" of Araldite Steel around the tapered ends of the sleeves and the exposed threads on the rod, really just...

Audi Approved Used Warranty - Diagnosis Fee?

All VW Group main dealerships do this nowadays with warranty work, it could be fair enough if "you" are just nit picking and very unsure if anything is wrong, someone has to pay for wasted time or the included warranty charge would need to keep rising faster than it does. On the other hand, for...

Replacing all front suspension arms on a 2011 S4

Just some comments from me as I've finally got round to replacing all the arms on the front end of my S4, initially I felt the need to change the arms because on passing speed bumps etc there was a "firmer" noise on compression coming from the RHS of the car, then I got a bee in my bonnet about...

    Press clutch to start issue

I've still got to change the clutch pushrods over, but, in the mean time, just for my own interests/satisfaction, I bought an extra Febi clutch slave cylinder and modified it as a "test piece", what I did was to attack the cylinder with an angle grinder so that there was a long slot cut right...

Brake hose removal -Front Audi A4, 2009

Once you have removed the spring clip, and applied plenty of release fluid, it should be able to pull it forward and so end up with the metal sleeve out of the bracket, then move the flexi sideways and so out of the bracket. Typically there will be a build up of rust on that metal sleeve, and...
