Any idea what is the best way to purge the air from the system in these cars. Tried the traditional "leave the cap open while the car runs" but that doesn't seem to make any difference.
So I've replaced the whole expansion tank now with a new part from TPS and the coolant loss seems to have stabilised. I do notice that the coolant level does fluctuate from time to time but since I can also hear some water gushing behind the dashboard, I'm guessing there is an airlock in the...
I had previously replaced the coolant tank with a part from eBay about a year ago. I have ordered a new coolant tank from the dealer now and will also be replacing the heater matrix on the off chance it has become blocked. Thanks for your help. Will keep you updated
Thanks for the reply. I have already replaced my heater matrix about a year or two ago. Did it myself and haven’t had any issues with the heating system. I get hot air coming out.
Hi,
I have been experiencing some mystery coolant loss of late in my A3 2.0 TDI (CUNA).
I had my water pump and timing belt replaced around 20k miles ago by an Audi dealership and have already had my EGR cooler replaced around 5K miles ago by an Audi specialist.
Recently I’ve been...
Hi,
So I’ve been having an issue with my A3 2.0 TDI (CUNA) loosing coolant on a regular basis and ,after an inspection from a local specialist, they have informed me that the likely culprit is the Charge Air Cooler since they found a whole load of coolant around its sensor. Apparently it’s also...
Thought I’d post some photos of the final out come. Unfortunately I spilt some of the glue when I was trying to glue the USB port into place so I’ll have to clean that up at some point.
I totally agree. Even though it was a pain in the balls, I did actually have some fun experimenting with all of these different solutions and learnt quite a bit along the way.
Well, it was more work than it was worth but I eventually got what I wanted. I decided to go with @malteso original suggestion and dremelled a hole next to my existing AMI connector and glued a USB extension in place. I then fed the wire underneath the centre console, following the tracks of the...
Sorry if I didn’t make it clear.
My car is a PFL A3 and it has just a single AMI port underneath the armrest. The new module that I have bought has the AMI and the USB Charge Only connector.
I have fitted a module from AliExpress that allows me to access CarPlay on my PFL A3 and I wanted to...
No. I need the AMI port to be functional as the AUX output is what’s used by the CarPlay module to put out sound.
Yeah I know what you mean. This might be more complicated than I first thought. I’m tempted to modify the housing of the new module slightly so that it can accommodate my old...
Also, I've just read this thread: https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/ami-usb-retrofit.353258/
Seems like the actual Fakra connectors may be different between the 2 modules. I'm guessing that there's some kind of adapter?
I’ll try and take some more photos later tonight.
So if I’m adding my own wires, does that mean I should remove the Fakra connector from the PCB and feed the power and data wires through the resulting gap?
Or would it be a case of still using the Fakra connector to provide power to the USB...
