    I've got 225/40R18 on 7.5x18 ET30 and they just catch the rear arch lip occasionally and you should have about 8-9mm more clearance with those depending which tyres you use.

    They should do, I think that's the same size and offset as the B6 S4 alloys. When I bought my car it had 8x17 ET45 alloys on it with 235/45R17 tyres and they didn't rub, if you use 225/40R18 tyres they are a little bit smaller diameter and thinner so should be fine

    The oil cooler pipes can corrode under the coolant hoses and cause a leak, should be ok to clean up and re-fit if that's the issue

    I have my old carriers off a 1.8T Quattro, slides are free but one rubber is split, I have the 8mm bolts as well. As far as I can make out on oemepc.com they should be the same. You can have them for the price of postage. I'm sure Aragorn will be able to verify if they will be the same or not...

    I think the side mounts are quite cheap, it's the bumper shocks that are expensive to buy new. Keep a look out and some will turn up cheap I paid £35 delivered for the shocks. As a temporary measure I used a pair of 21mm sockets as spacers on top of the original mountings and made the longer...

    There is no issue with the screen for the MOT, any additional warnings on the screen are irrelevant and you can only fail if the warning lights are showing a fault.

    The old engine leaked quite a lot of oil, had done 187000 miles and the turbo had gone, the newer AWT had 110000 miles and didn't leak any oil so it was just easier to swap the lot.

    Yes, that's what I did but I also swapped the engine, the APU is narrowband so you don't get the full benefit of ME7 but it can be added on later.
