it may be a legendary engine but the sound is strangled in its current form.
My 2016 8v was absolutely incredible and I so wish I had kept that car, something to hold onto almost indefinitely.
But my 8y didn't give me any of the sound excitement that the 8v provided on every turn of the key...
new car looks great and ascari a stunning colour.
have you had your 8v from new ?
You will miss the engine and exhaust note of the 8v but I appreciate at some point you want a new car.
I just wish the 8Y had the soundtrack of the 8v, it was such a huge part of the car for me
True .. but they have lost a lot of us that were loyal to Audi for years.
I bought nothing else but Audi's from 2008 to 2022 (with just a short dip into Merc).
We had 2 at one point as my wife had a TT too when I had my 2016 RS3.
Now, there is nothing at all in the line up to draw me back.
matrix headlights software updated free of charge for example.
Possibly the only manufacturer that actually does turn things on and gives them for free.
Audi are playing with fire here charging for features which were included in previous spec cars like an elec tailgate.
I've had both and traded an A45 to get the 8Y.
The result doesn't surprise me tbh .... ON THE TRACK !
The A45 I found needed to thrashed and red lined to make it exciting, which on public roads you struggle to do.
If you can bang it through the gears on track I can imagine it would be fantastic...
As I am sure you'll agree that sounds quite impressive ... erm not sure about that and as you say sounds just the same.
The sound police have spoiled all the magical sound of the 5 pot, its criminal.
That is good of them to 'want to book it in' ... wonder if they would have told you the price beforehand too ?
Also though ... impressive that ALDI have gone into car servicing and mot's :tearsofjoy:
For sure the 4.0 GTS has many attractions and after moving from my 8v RS3 to a Dyson Merc A45s then an 8yRS3 the GTS certainly was the closest I could get to a car with a decent soundtrack but if I am honest my 8v even beat it on that front. For a daily 4 wheel drive practical hatch, the 8v was...
Wish I still had my 2016 8v RS3 ... was such a joy to own / drive / listen to - probably why it was the only car I ever owned for 4 years and still enjoyed it to the last day.
So it looks likely the UK will have no contrast stitching or jazzy seats again - just boggo standard cars.
Probably no chance of the interior upgrade either that gives you the flat bottom alcantara steering wheel.
No issue at all with the carbon edition "flat bottom" steering wheel but the vorsprung wheel has had MANY negative comments about its aesthetic appearance.
It was enough to stop me getting a vorsprung as I knew it would have bugged me albeit I know many owners are fine with it, just not me &...
Yeah those seats will be for the publicity car only.
OMG they have made an awful steering wheel even worse !!!!
What on earth is going on in Audi with steering wheels on the RS3 ?
That looks terrible and lowering makes it look like the suspension has collapsed and the body kit is way OTT.
The RS3 used to be a stylish q car but still had an appropriate level of 'presence'
There appears to be a move in some of the demographic who are buying these cars now would it be fair...
