    Just found out this post. I also have a 2.0 TDI pd 170hp with plastic inlet manifold - replaced the original one (metal) which was cracked and leaking. I have a strong engine jolt/hesitation occasionally when starting, most pronounced when cold can this be related with the plastic manifold? Thanks.

    Did you try cleaning EGR valve and/or anti-shudder valve (sits below EGR) ? I'll do this this weekend or next and report back. Does anyone have also strong smell from exhaust when idling? Trying to find if it's related...

    I'm ressurecting this thread. I have exactly the same problem, i own a 2.0 TDI bmn 170hp. Have also replaced the battery that improved starting judder/shake in 50% but its still there. Did anyone solved this without messing with ECU? Thanks!

    Rough/violent shake on start up

    Hello there, I have a 2.0 TDI pd 170 from 2007 and same intermittent problem. VCDS scan shows no errors. Oil service done but still have to change fuel filter... Did you found out what causes it? Thanks.

    Just curious: about losing efficiency, do you know if these glowplugs are different from the old ones on 1.9 TDI engines? I had a 1.9 TDI pd 150 from 2002 and NEVER had a starting problem... 2.0 tdi seem to have a lot... Anyway, my battery is 10 months old (from previous owner) and it's 74Ah...

    Hello there, I also have a 2.0 TDI and i'm trying to diagnose my slow cold start in the morning. Battery seems to be ok. I noticed that when i turn the key 3 or 4 times and the try to start, it seems better... is this an indication of glow plug problem or something else? Thanks.

    Hi, I have 06/2007 A3 and I have a similar question: can i do a straight upgrade from my pre-facelift climatronic to facelift climatronic with chrome knobs or i will have the aircon flaps problem i've read somewhere? Thanks.
