    Thanks for the clarification @cuke2u. What's the best way of clarifying the part number without the VIN? I guess I'd need to check the spec of the car for the finish, as that seems to be the main differentiator in the part number for the particular item.

    Got the VIN from the dealer, but when I enter it into https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/etka/audi/a4/849/8/ it says it can't be found in the database. The VIN is definitely correct (have used it to register for myAudi, and it comes up with the correct details here: https://uk.vin-info.com)...

    Thanks @Soot1e , not quite (that's external, need internal)... But I think it might be the item labelled 14 on this: https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/etka/audi/a4/849/867000/ (although that would appear to be for the passenger front door, so I'm assuming the trim would be reversed for the driver?)
