    1.4TFSI Reliability

My wife's had her 1.4TFSI since it had 90k miles on the clock. It's now on 190k miles and it's been the most reliable car I've ever seen. I had the timing chain and cam adjusters replaced when I bought it, but since then the only things I've ever replaced were two drop links, the radiator and...

A3 1.4TFSI Engine Rattle On Cold Start... Timing Chain?

It’s only normal if your chain is stretched or a tensioner has had it. Since replacing the chain on my wife’s car it hasn’t rattled on start up in 90k miles. Regarding your other problem, does your car struggle to start on cold mornings?

Most reliable engine petrol or diesel

That’s the problem, the petrol engines are ****. Timing chain issues, burning oil, pcv fails causing crank case pressure which blows the rear main seal out etc. So not keen on petrol, but as you say, diesel is becoming a problem. I’m happy with an older model as long as problems are limited...

Most reliable engine petrol or diesel

Looking at getting the wife an A5. She’s got a 1.4 tfsi A3 with over 180k miles on the clock and it’s been the most reliable car I have ever seen. Apart from servicing and replacing the timing chain and cam adjusters when I bought it, the only thing it’s ever needed is two drop links and a new...

A3 1.4TFSI Engine Rattle On Cold Start... Timing Chain?

If anyone's interested, I had the same on the wife's 1.4 TFSI when I bought it. Had the timing chain and cam adjusters replaced which completely cured the cold start rattle. It's been 70k miles since and still no rattle.

    1.4 TFSI Cold Start Problem

The wife's 1.4 TFSI has developed a cold start problem where it will just crank unless you give it some gas with the accelerator pedal. Any other time it starts on the button. Not a huge issue but I'd still like to sort it. I've read previous threads which suggest the in tank fuel pump could be...

Does no one tune their 1.4 TFSI?

I shouldn't have known that was coming. Lol. To be fair though I did have an S4 B8... For a whole month before I sold it on.

Does no one tune their 1.4 TFSI?

I thought they all had variable timing? I had the timing chain and cam adjuster replaced just after I bought it at considerable cost as it had chain rattle on startup. Been rock solid since, but the thing is gutless. I'm actually trying to get the wife into a m135i or m140i but she hates BMW's. Lol

Does no one tune their 1.4 TFSI?

Tell me about it. A generic map/tuning box for 400 odd quid giving you 20hp extra. No thanks. I wonder what makes these specific engines so poor at responding to any kind of tuning. It has a turbo ***. I guess it's so small you probably can't run much more boost anyway. I spent less than a...

Does no one tune their 1.4 TFSI?

I guess I'll just have to buy her another car then.

Does no one tune their 1.4 TFSI?

I've been looking at getting my wife's 1.4 TFSI tuned for some time now as she keeps saying it's slow(which it is) but she refuses to let me buy her another car. I would have thought with a downpipe, better air intake and a remap you should at least see another 50hp or so and a lot more torque...

    What's it worth

I'm trying to get the wife to part with her car to buy her something newer. I've got no idea what it's worth though so wonder if I can get some pointers. A3 1.4 TFSI 2011 model with 115k on the clock. Full Audi service history until 2014 then Audi specialist. It had the timing chain rattle on a...

    2011 Radiator replacement?

Sorry for the late reply, been away. The car is a 2011 1.4 TFSI. I also saw somewhere that the front bumper had to come off. Looking under the bonnet though, it doesn't seem there is any space to get it out without removing the bumper, but as ahtcap says, removing the bumper was of no use...

    2011 Radiator replacement?

I sent the wife's A3 in for an oil service to a very good indi who I've used before, and was reasonable with his prices. He just rang up saying the service will come to over a thousand pound. :puke2: I said why and he said one of the rear shocks is leaking and so is one of the radiators...

    Heater blower resistor

Does anyone know what the difference is between the 3c0907521F and 3c0907521D hedgehog? The wife's one packed up and the one in her car is the F variant, but I can only find a D online that will be delivered next day. Is there any difference between the two as they look identical?

Thinking of getting a D3, advice please

I'm looking into getting a D3 for my daily driver. I do an 80 mile round trip every day to work and back of which 70 miles are motorway and 10 miles are city driving. Although I'd love to go for the 4.2l, I can't help but think the fuel consumption would be horrendous. I drive a BMW 530i at the...

I've come across OBDEleven which looks great. Also just a one off payment for pro licence which unlocks everything. Carista charges you for everything and then some.

    Blower fan kaput

Yes, don't switch the ignition on once you've disconnected the passenger airbag switch plug from the glove box! Otherwise you'll be stuck with a permanent airbag light like I am now. Getting the motor out is dead easy. Take the glove box out which will give you full access to the motor. Then...
