    Battery replacement

Got a reply from Bosch.... -------·------- S5A08 is an AGM type, all our AGM batteries can be charged to a maximum recommended voltage of 14.8V, as such we assume the ‘AGM program’ would be suitable however if in any doubt you should check with the supplier of the charger. If the Audi coding has...

    Battery replacement

The odd thing is that, according to Ctek, their charger's AGM mode charges to higher voltages than wet/flooded batteries. But not all AGM batteries are like that, and "many" are charged like normal flooded/wet batteries, so presumably charging those AGM batteries to higher voltages would not be...

    Battery replacement

As stated above the Bosch came with an extra year of warranty even though it's the same battery. Sadly missed that discount code.

    Battery replacement

So I have been using Car Scanner ELM OBD2 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ovz.carscanner to do the coding. I incremented existing battery serial # by 1 set the battery technology to AGM/fleece (was EFB) set the capacity from 69 to 70 (for the new battery's capacity) Coding...

    Battery replacement

This article suggests that the superiority of AGM isn't so clear https://www.stryten.com/efb-vs-agm-powering-cars-in-the-future/ Suggests the only clear benefit of AGM is deep discharge cycles. I guess one application might be a dashcam in parking mode which regularly discharges the battery a...

    Battery replacement

Looking to replace my battery ("like for for like" MOLL 69AH EFB OEM -> 70AH EFB (possibly Varta)). Stop start raley engages now and battery went flat after a week on hol. At 7yrs old I'm thinking I should just replace it given those are both symptoms the battery is probably now struggling. 1...

Rear wash (not the plastic nozzle)

So I can hear the pump working, and it works for the front windscreen. But I get no water coming out the back, even with the plastic nozzle removed. So either the pump has failed (even though it's still heard running) or there's a blockage in the hose that runs to the back, or it's become...

    Facelift Audi A3 1.4 TFSI

I agree the uk vs global stance on this feels like it's driven by profit making only, to help dealers make some more money. Especially as most cars wont make it to 100k within warranty. But I would caution those who say an old belt 'looked ok'. You can only see the surface of the belt. You...

    Weird noise when idle

Sounds like something loose/ratting rather than grinding to me that's occurring when the vibration from the engine is at just the right frequency to make it resonate. Look for anything loose that might rattle?

Next Oil Change date moved forward?

... and in the UK alone we're still "supposed" to change rubber cam belts at 5 years - increasing our costs and the dealer's coffers - but I guess there aren't many fleet cars that old so it doesn't affect them. Still deciding if to get mine done at the 7yr mark/45K miles :readit:

They're not supposed to be consistent. Depends on driving conditions. Your driving habits have probably changed due to Covid etc.

    S3 wheels

I have done that too until now. I want the rim protection, but summer tyres are not designed for use below 7c. I think I'm getting some light cracking in the sidewalls due to that alone?! Let alone poker grip etc.
