Let's hope they actually know what they are doing, rather than poking around in the dark. Get them to do a VCDS scan and get the data on here for an opinion.
If they don't know what VCDS is... then you need to get an expert opinion from someone like @Rick @ Unicorn Motor Dev.
What is your engine designation? Mine is CBAB.
This is the exploded (!) view. Undo the feed pipe on the right and the 3 bolts. Off it comes for a good clean, and it will need it!
Part nos for gaskets etc are here:
This is what I used, the back bolt of the 3 is a bit tricky, but it's well worth doing. Once you get the hang of it, it's a 15 minute removal :-)
Rather than worry about what might happen if... so no, I am not bothered about the fix for a possible tightening of emissions past 2018.
I take comfort from all the other 2009 diesels from all manufacturers. They all need to pass the MOT.
I can't see the MOT station going: "Oh here comes a VAG...
They will not being going near mine. They lied and screwed up. Fine. I don't see why that should affect my car, which runs fine. I'm not jumping cos Audi say jump. When my warranty ended years ago, they didn't care what happened to my car after that, did they?
If they really want to make amends...
I buy lots of things for business and hobbies from the USA and it is very rare these days to escape duty, VAT and admin charges, no matter who the carrier is. The USA folks normally put the shipping charges in with the total so you pay the 25% odd on that too. They rarely put reduced charges...
Sadly on 1.6TDI (mine was forever going into limp mode from new :-() the EGR is at the back of the engine and the DPF needs remoiving AFAIK to get to it. On the 2.0 TDi CR it is at the front and pretty easy to whip off and clean (or throw away if are doing a DPF delete as well).
Sorry to say...
You're pumping a lot of **** into your engine, that does matter! I suppose if you have no DPF you are pumping out 1/100th of the soot (wild guess) that a passing bus does. I have an EGR and am able to remove it and clean it periodically. Even with the reducer gasket fitted a bit of gunk gets...
Allright mate, I've been looking at getting my back 3 done on my 3-door too, I called a firm nearby twice yesterday but they didn't answer their phone. I'm just a couple of miles from Tottenham so if it will £100, then I wouldn't mine being 2nd on your cousins round next week?
Also check with Mike for the latest VAG pricing @mjr901
I got 5x1l of Mobil 1 5w-30 at a good price, though I think it might be a different 504.00...
They have plenty of expertise from what I can gather, and that is a good price too.
From what I can gather researching DPF removal for quite a while, it seems likely that a particulate test will be introduced for diesels during the MOT, which is why I have decided not to delete mine. Not sure...
Thanks, helpful advice from AudiSport yet again!
I am going to wait for Rick and take it from there, but Storm do seem very good, as you say.
This was the post I was referring to, states Stg1 doesn't need loads of logging and VCDS etc, only if you want a highly tweaked custom map, which I...
I agree buddy, just crazy!
I am waiting to hear back from our very own Rick about mapping via Android, my car is 03/09 so I don't know if it can be done but if it can I will be going Unicorn for sure!!!!!
Yup you are right, for CBAB and CBBB it is the same number for 2009MY - 022 141 015 S.
So the same for 170 and 140 outputs, hmm might need something a bit beefier then.
Sachs organic / another LUK, any ideas please?
