    Alternative view: BMW 3 Series (G20)

    My wife has the X4 with the M40i in it and it's a bit lairy on startup. Very nice. Sound alone was pretty much enough to persuade me to go for a M340i touring later this year instead of the now ruined S4.

    Fair enough. Not been in one so couldn't comment. Climate wasn't standard on my TTS either - shocking on a 40 grand car. Needed to buy the comfort pack with the fancy LCD vent centres

    Can't really compare it to my TTS as it's a very different car but the X4 is every bit as capable as my wife's old Evoque. Hides it's size and weight well

    I'm waiting for the touring version later this year. My wife has the same engine in her X4 and it's definitely worth the wait. It's everything that the S4 was and should be Interior isn't quite up to Audi quality but the tech is just as good.

    Just cancelled my S4 'order' after 4.5 months waiting for a date or even any information. Audi customer service were worse than useless. Dealer also mentioned unprompted that it was going to be a bi-turbo diesel. Definitely happy with my decision now!

    The staff discount helps too. My wife works for BMW and has a 340i at the moment - X4 M40i coming in 3 weeks time so I get an extended test drive of the engine . The only things that swung me towards the S4 (apart from driving TTs for the last 15 years) was 4wd and the electronic handbrake...

    Dealership has had my S4 deposit for 4 months now and been unable to place an order on the system. I get a monthly call from them with zero news. I dropped Audi customer care an email last week about this issue and timings on S4 production. Hopefully should hear back in the next day or two...
