My 3.0 TDi did this twice, once for the EGR and once for the DPF.
May be worth booking in with a local independent garage to do a full diagnostic, as it should store the codes.

I had a similar issue on my 3.0TDi
My mate at my local indi garage tried to force the regen to no avail. He therefore tricked the car into thinking a new DPF was fitted, which then ran the regen and touch wood I’ve had no issues since.
Worth getting that oil change done, gives you piece of mind. 034 Motorsport transmission mount is a really easy, cheap mod and smooths things up a bit more.
Sounds like a ballast issue with the light, I,ll second that the Osram bulbs make such a difference. Not cheap but worth it. Good luck...
I originally purchased my fog light grills from the A5OC forum but a kamikaze pheasant saw off one of them.
Got the second set from eBay and no complaints for a 1/4 of the price.
I’m not sure if the original rings will fit but I thought xenonz used to supply.
Never seen a bad review for them
