I've got the same problem, I'm gonna try jacking the door to pop it back, big brutal I know, but few of mk4 golf lads have done the same
I had it on my a3, come mot, just whipped it off, sorted, never got round to putting it back on again
I've got a dog guard which pushes it out, fixed when dog isn't in the car
recommend THS mounts with powerflex lower engine mounts easy to change aswell
dont force it, i smashed my windscreen when i did it on my polo

Finally managed to check it today, the accuator is free and moving fine? Does it sound like egr valve?
Sounds like the egr intake manifold flap buzzing, I noticed mine before changing my bulbs
Heard about this one, did it sound like it was coming from the engine bay?
