MTM tuning, anyone on here use it? S3 8P

Haz,

We still on for Crail on the 23rd???

Im still thinking about it, since I have a presentation that week to do, but don't know what date is. Will let you know in time.

Haz did u say drivers are going out of business?bought a few things from them in the last couple of years and the service has always been spot on- nice chap George that runs it too so thats a shame if thats the case.

plus are you at cally?one of my mates said he seen a purple S3 there the other week with a nice sounding exhaust-take it that was yours!

I've confirmed with george and they are going out of business (george lives a few streets down from my house). And yes imat cally so that would definitely have been me lol :icon_thumright:

Have some good news about the group buy, I've confirmed a price with Barry if we get 5 people then he can do roughly 10% off so it comes to £900 including fitting and vat, plus gives you free future remaps if you go stage 2, 2+ or 3, get a revised map (btw this revised stage 2 map may be a 2+ but im awaiting confirmation on that). And if there are 10 people, then he might be able to bring it down even more.

Plus im going to get details on a stage 2++ from mtm (if that makes sense). They are going to do a stage between 2+ (fuel pump) and the big turbo kit. It will be a direct turbo replacement for a slighty bigger then K04 (will have similar spool times so not laggy) and may be hybrid too. This turbo should be good for 380 to 400 bhp. Dont know the cost yet but Barry has guaranteed a price for tomorrow plus all this will be under full Audi/mtm warranty ie if the engine blows up its covered.

Good news Haz, you can count me in for group buy

Great, ive sent Staz a pm to start a group buy post on MTM remaps so we can have some names down, I wish I could've got a £100 knocked off with this group buy, oh well :crying:

I wonder if qst wil update my stage 2 for free? must call them when i,m back in uk!

I've got an S3 on order, due for September delivery. Was planning on going to Jim at StarPerformance in Kirkaldy for a GIAC re-map, as I've heard good things about GIAC ( eg ECU counter doesn't get incremented, so Audi can't detect that there has been a re-map if you reset it back to stock ).

I might be interested in the MTM group buy if it guaranteed the warranty though..................hmmmm.

Yaks

Audi Glasgow have told me if there is a revised map, then since I've paid for the first map, it will be updated free of charge.

Btw, ive started a group buy for the MTM remaps, let me know if you're interested and I will try my best to bring the price even lower. We need 5 people or more for the group buy.

Just a quick query ...... for those of you running MTM remap .... what is your fuel consumption like with just normal driving style ( ie Not quite," driving miss daisy " but average 70 mph long runs etc ) in relation to standard power ?
And also what sort of price has your insurance jumped up by ?

Thanks

Fuel economy is very similar to standard on stage 1, and very slighlty more on stage 2. My insurance company asked for another £65 for the remap so not too bad.

Thanks Haz,
doing my head in stuck offshore here at the moment, so just fishing for info to pass the time.
I have only got about 122 miles on the clock at the moment, but reckon by the time get things organised i will have covered near a 1000 miles. So at least I will appreciate the re-map more when i get it after standard spec :o.k:

I did a test, and the fuel consumption (with the revised software) was 39,79 MPG british (33 MPG US, 0,71 L/10KM), and that is exactly the same as stock.
With the MTM map I hade before, the consumption was 30 MPG british (25 MPG US, 0,93 L/10km) (I hope tha calculation is right)
The speed was around 60 mph.
And the power is much better.

That's pretty good with the new software then. Cheers for that.

That's a really big improvement fuel consumption with the revised stage 2 map, Im only getting about 17.7 mpg (with sprinted driving lol), ive asked Audi Glasgow about it and they are going to find out. Btw has your exhaust note changed with the the new map and any other changes you've experienced?

OK. So do I go for the MTM or GIAC remap. Simple. Not so. I have had a GIAC remap on my A3 which I quite liked. Therefore do I stick with what I know or go for the MTM? This would be on a S3.

Well the choice is clearly yours. The MTM stage 2 map is really aggressive, had a run with another s3 with a revo stage 2+ (similar to giac extreme map) and when doing a rolling start at 40 the mtm s3 jumps forward about half a car length, then the revo 2+ caught up on overtook after 80mph only since the revo stage 2+ s3 had a fuel pump/uprated dv/uprated spark plugs and rs4 pressure regulator value which I didn't.

yours just lept ahead every time, amazing throttle response with that map/intake.
Did ur RS4 reg and new DV make a difference then?
btw u get my text about crail?

The RS4 reg valve, Rev D DV and denso IK24 spark plugs made a huge difference in terms of a nice linear power all the way to the red line. It feels stupidly fast now but at the same time smooth and its frightening. Plus the Rev D DV has a chatter which wasn't present with the old DV, sounds really nice. But the car is not idling properly, its going grom 1000rpm upto 1400rpm and dropping back to 1000rpm at idle. Dont know whats wrong with it, will get it checked by audi on monday. (any hints will be helpful)

About crails, sorry been busy so forgot to text you back man, my exams are in the way so really dont know if I would come crail, plus I rather get the fuel pump fitted too then go crail, really wanna go all out this time lol.

Just study hard on sat and come to crail. There are a load of us going on the 23rd. Keep meaning to hook up with youso sorry have not got round to arranging something.

Btw I would get revo but I'm obviously biased!

Okay I might go then, feel bad since a good few people have asked me. What time is everyone leaving for and who's going. But if the idle problem is not fixed then I may have to hold fire. Would be good to do a stage 2 mtm v revo lol.

Gulu, Faisal...usual crew. Should be leaving at 8.30am aiming to get to Crail at 10ish.

On second thoughts you should study and we will prob do another Crail day in July. Exams are also important!

Rough idle sounds like an issue wihe the DV fitting. Did you get a new clutch?

I'll see how the revision goes, might pop along. No new clutch yet since the one at the moment is going strong, fingers crossed. Gonna give audi the car to check under warranty, I think there may be an air leak somewhere, can hear a hissing noise.

Just come man it'll be a laff! Loads of peepl r goin. N a few bikes too, went on the R6 last nite , did 165 ridin pilion, shat ma pants!!

Haha, I wouldn't dare go on a bike that fast lol. I might come along then, just waiting to see what day my presentation is, and really want this idle problem sorted first though.

You can never get tht thrill from a car man.
i had a similar uneven/hunting idle problem, it seems to have gone away since I fitted my new intake. U notice ne improvment from them densos?

Mine jumped by 40% (for the 330BHP mod). Didn't hurt too badly, as I wasn't paying much to start with.

That was through Adrian Flux; they did faff around for ages getting it sorted though. I get the impression they have a few folk who know what they are about, but you only ever get to speak to the uninformed frontline staff. Cost me an extra 15 quid in phone calls!

Cheers. That's a pretty big hike though 40%.
I am the wrong side of 40 now:crying:, been driving since 17, no points and no claims in all that time, and yet still insurance quotes are not great. I think a premium is high now if it gets over 400 quid full stop.
Glad I am not 17 again now mind you, would hate to be paying these "rip off " merchants thousands of pounds a year in premiums. Would break my heart.

I hate insurance...that is all.

You guys should come to the VAG meet at the end of the month in x-scape (last wednesday i think:/)... i would like to see your cars lol, plus when I'm 21 I am thinking of getting an S3 and getting a MTM map and some milltech exhausts... ATM have a standard 2.0TDI, debadged with black emblems... Insurance too much on an S3 right now lol:(

I didn't even know there was going to be a vag meet there!I should be a bit tuned by then so I might show face!
Insurance wise I've started to accept it as part of the cost of the car(this is my 5th car,I'm 21 lol) which is sad but I suppose thats what hapens when you want a powerful car when you're young!

I would also be up for this meet Akash but as it's a Wed I won't know nearer the time due to work commitments. Will defo try and ensure I am up in Scotland that week.

I have used MTM for tuning my original RS4, RS6+ and new S3. The S3 is the interesting one. I thought I would save money by going local for an AMD remap. After misfires and poor fuel economy I went down to QSTuning and had an MTM remap installed at twice the price of the AMD. Normal service has now been resumed with an increase in torque and accleration. Basically, you get what you pay for. MTM has a close working relationship with Audi and has been tuning their cars for a long time. I have never had a problem with an MTM remap, Kim Collins, his mother or the dog. I have never had anything but superb service and I believe that I have had good value for money.
