MTM tuning, anyone on here use it? S3 8P

Is anyone running with a de-catted milltek turbo back on their S3?

Useful thread! I've been thinking about the MTM remap for a while. I'm in Edinburgh, so Glasgow Audi's pretty convenient. I'm new to the whole tuning thing, so I'd prefer getting it done at a dealership. Did actually drop them an email a while back (Willie Connolly was the contact).

I'd be interested in hearing any more opinions from anyone who had just the MTM remap without hardware upgrades about whether it gives a really noticeable boost.

Cheers,

Bobby

Hi mate, Willy left Glasgow Audi about 6 months ago, now its Barry who's dealing with MTM. Just call Audi Glasgow (0141 565 6300) and ask for Barry in parts and he'll let you know everything from a remap all the way to the MTM big turbo kit :faint:.

Ps The MTM remap really makes the car more lively, you feel a much more grunt in the car right from the low end. Also the exhaust note changes and sounds more aggressive and raspier, hope that helps.

...all the way to the MTM big turbo kit

Must admit to being tempted by that! I think I'd need to be sitting down and have a stiff drink to hand before asking them for a price on it tho'!

Thanks for the feedback on the map!

I've asked him the price for the big turbo kit, are you sure you want to know lol. For a standard s3 to have the 380bhp MTM big turbo kit it costs about £11K :sadlike:. That includes the stage 3 remap, turboback exhaust, uprated walbro fuel pump, bigger intercooler, bigger injectors, bigger pipe hoses for intercooler/induction kit, induction kit with special air inlet, a KKK K24 turbo with special manifold, wastegate, labour included in price to fit everything on and other grommets and stuff to make the turbo kit work (ps could have missed a thing or to but thats all the major parts). Hope I didn't scare you with the price lol

Exactly. £11k on a £30k car? Kinda feels stupid. Did the Stage 2 on mine, feeling that's more than enough power, will add some holding value to the car and bring it much closer to what an S3 should be like when it leaves the factory.

Me liking the fact that it's a Porsche killer :rockwoot:

Wow...sounds like a bump. I would want a lot more than 380 Bhp if I spent £11K. The fact Stg 2+ takes you to around 370 Bhp for a lot less money makes the MTM big turbo conversion pointless.

Thats looks like the stage 3 kit for the 2.0T (197BHP) not the S3,

Yes that's true, Audi Glasgow will tune your car for example MTM software, MTM or Milltek exhaust, MTM big turbo, MTM big brakes, MTM coilovers, sach performance clutch etc ... and the car will be fully covered under warranty, even if the engine blows up. I can confirm Audi Glasgow and probably the other Lomond group Audi dealers (they own Audi Glasgow) will honour the warranty.

Bit far out of the way for me - any other dealers down south offering this kind of warranty on performance tuning software up to Stage 2+?

Thanks for the advice, Haz1 and thebott. I went for the MTM 330 stage with Milltek turbo-back exhaust and MTM air filter in the end. Just picked the car up from Glasgow Audi today and it's awesome! Performance is miles better! Nice sound too, without being to noisy (didn't want it booming). Very glad I had it done.

On warranty, I asked them in detail and it's not quite so straightforward. Technically, it'll void warranty, but they'll be reasonable about it within Lomond group Audi dealers. Sounds like they've done loads of these with no problems, so they're pretty confident of their work.

Only issue I had was that the parts turned up late, so my plan to hang around in Glasgow for the day and pick it up in the evening failled and I had to come back through from Edinburgh the following day. Annoying in that I'd phoned them the day before to check and was told it was all ready to go. They did reduce the price a bit to cover the inconvenience though, so can't complain too much.

By the way Haz1, good choice of car colour! :)

Glad to hear your happy with the mod, the car sounds so much better with milltek and btw ive got some warranty work done after stage 2 and they have not refused. Audi Glasgow (or more specially Barry who deals with MTM) have provided me a really good service and due to loyalty I will go back to them. And thanks for the compliment on the colour, you should see it in real lol

Think I have! I previously had an older A3 1.8T in Merlin Purple; I liked it so much that when I got the S3 I ordered it with what they now call Audi Exclusive Purple, which is pretty the same as far as I can tell!

Do you also have a purple S3? is it the facelift one with the chrome grill, I think i saw it parked at Audi Glasgow?

SaintToad, i am glad you got the mtm map, its been on my car for over 18 months with no problems , and with the miltek it sounds great, i thought i had the only mtm s3 in Edinburgh as i have not spotted any .........:salute:

Haz1, do you have an e mail contact for Barry at Glasgow Audi regarding MTM queries ? I am stuck offshore at the moment, so just wanted to get some info and prices from him if possible. I have just joined the S3 club with only 120 miles on the car so far, but want to look at remap in near future. I am in Glasgow so maybe can hook up with you sometime to get a blether etc.
I am sure I have seen your car around as well. Very nice by the way.
Cheers

If you saw it Wed/Thurs this week, then yeah; that's when I was getting the tuning/exhaust. It's the facelift version, sportback with roofrails.

What about a Glasgow Group Buy with Lomond Audi - recon there are quite a few of us who would consider MTM over REVO if the pricded was right and the warranty was covered.

Anyone know what Lomond they quote for each stage and what is involved?

Cheers

Im now going a different way from MTM or Revo, think im gona give Regal autosport the shout to do their VFF big turbo conversion similar to what jonnyc had done to his S3 when he had it.

400+bhp etc- a bit mad but il enjoy it while the engine is still intact

Yes could be worth a try. Mine is the DSG box so will be interesting to see if I will need to get a remap for the gearbox as well. That's if it is available from MTM ofcourse.

I don't have an email for Barry but I'll call him on monday and get it for you if you really want. The phone number is 0141 565 6300 if that's of any good, and thanks for the nice comment on the car
Ps. Im cool with taking you for a quick blast before you part with your money, that's no problem.

Ill ask Barry about a group buy for 5 or 10 people see what he says on monday. I think the going rate is about £977 for a MTM remap inc vat and fitting (including free future remaps, ie stage 2, 2+ and 3 etc) but I can check again for you.

Cheers Haz1, be great to get for a quick blast see what it is like. I will drop you a PM when i get home in a few weeks if that is OK with you to arrange that.
Thanks for the offer to call Barry on my behalf but now I have the number I will call him when I'm back. Cheers anyway.

Just another quickie, is the setting with MTM adjustable as with some other remaps ?

as far as i am aware the mtm is not adjustable by the user.......may be wrong ...

I have MTM stage 2 in my S3, and I have a new released software from MTM flashed. The first software I had from MTM was very different compares to the new one.
The power, and the engine sound is much better now, and the fule consumption decreased a lot (appr. 20%)
And now I am very happy with the result :)

Hey Buddy, glad you got it sorted. Now sounds like we're better matched on fuel consumption.

Is this a new revised software mtm released for stage 2? When was it released?

Hey, Yes, now we talking. Quicker, and cheaper to drive. But now I have to focus on my front disc brakes, because thoose are realy bad. No extreme hard driving and 12 000 miles.

Regarding my dealer here in Sweden, it was released last week.

Lol, nice to see so many MTM guys out and about (get's a bit lonely ya know) - chasing a new remap. Me going to do some research in the morning.

I'm going to Audi today to pick up some parts and will ask them about a revised stage 2 map, and also about a group buy.

Wow couldn't believe it if Drivers went out of business. Was in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago and sure it was open. Always found George a bit wierd...Niel on the other hand is a sound guy!

Haz,

We still on for Crail on the 23rd???
