bast**ds took my babys

I don't apreciate people taking things that don't belong to them I work my **** off to keep nice things, why should I give it to someone else??!!

I agree with you wholeheartedly, it's just a balancing act with what is basically 'just a car' and potentially my families safety.

It's all very well thinking that you'll hide the keys and give them a slap if they come looking for them... but anyone who intends to steal a car to order will come prepared to do whatever it takes to get it. I've heard truly horrible stories about people's children, partners and pets being threatened and/or hurt to get a reluctant owner to hand over the keys.

Seriously, once they're in your house, however much you love your car (and I do love mine), better that they take it without the risk of harm to you and your loved ones IMO.

You're not making a stand against the injustice of it all; you're endangering yourself and, more importantly, the people/animals you care about.

Mine's parked in the garage when at home but I do have a tracker (was fitted from new when I bought it) and this gives me some peace of mind

If they want my car they can have it but instinct will kick in - when they attempted to break in at our old house I was the one literally jumping down the stairs half naked - didn't even think about it - it was only afterwards that i said "What if?"

Mind you - the sight of me half naked probably scared them senseless!!

I am feeling your pain! I was gutted when mine was broken into, i cant begin to think what it must be like for them to be taken!!

My house is covered both front and back by CCTV, however this is no deterrent anymore...
I am now after some internal IP cameras, just not sure what to get... would like something with PTZ Features...

On the tracker front guys, i use my Road Angel as one... They do one which is connected via a sim card which costs £10 a month...
I just leave the device switched on in my glove box locked up..

In my old car it used to stay in the boot, however when my last car was broken into the idiots stole it!! Thank fully the police managed to track it down based on my tracking reports!

Heavily into tracking anyway and tried a few other methods out in my old card... it is what i used to do at my old company.
The company i am with now used to do the same thing until they sold that part of the business off just after i joined them.

Researching into a better solution now anyway, as my main problem is 5min updates... or even 1min updates are just not quick enough in a real life environment.
The police really struggled with me 2min updates and suggested that for them under 30 seconds, or even less would be much better!
I did trial a system that i had setup using a java app on a mobile.. worked ok, but you were reliant on the mobile not crashing etc etc.

One site i have used is www.locatea.net as you can join up cheap tracking units and use their interface to monitor it...

Cheers
Chris

I would rather they took my car, than threatened to take my fioncés life over something as stupid as a car. Keys stay on the hook by the door.

www.y-cam.com do good IP cams.

Has anyone had any dealings with the bubble tracker as mentioned above ? Seem's cheap..so no good ? :)

GPS trackers are pointless against pro tealeafs, they block these, so it must have both systems fitted like trackers have, so cant be blocked fully.

i leave mine on a hock too and agree with you there like iv said before i pay my car insur for a reson
but that would not stop me trying to protect my family or my stuff if some one is stupid enough
to brake into your house for what ever reson but iv seen on tv about some Thieving gits put a small pol through your
letter box and unhock your keys so i have mine on a hock but not near my front door ie in the kitchen man it makes you think though doesnt it
what the hell is this world comin to if you can not evan go to bed at night and be safe in your own home and what are we bring are kids into ifits this bad now
what will it be like when they are our ages its sickning its like ever time we make some thing to keep are stuff safe ie car alarms stop most not car radios being taken then the good old
immobiliser stop the car from being taken. till now when they just come into your ****** house when your in bed.

Police rang today but it was no more than a curtosy call saying it has not been found, it is now setting in what has happened and i feel sick. But anyway reading the threads with support in them helps and it will pass. Now the hard work starts got to get car's with similar spec's thats the hardest! the condition was pristeen as well but the milage was high what do you think its worth going to say a ball park figure of £9000 do you think higher or lower than this?

Not sure really, some cheap trackers are ok, just need to be hidden well enough.

I personally want a CobraTrak system with ADR etc etc, but they are VERY expensive... Going to research home fit systems tonight and see if there are any that get a good rating...

if you never bought the car brandnew, id tell the insurance that the rns-e was in the car when you bought it along with any other oem items you fitted.
as it is an oem item then no need to declair it as a mod.
do you have any photos of it in the car ?
if not, give me a shout and ill take some of mine for you, is your dash black ?
they would never know it was mine mate, all the dashes are the same, id say youd get away with it.

Real sorry to hear about this! Just can't believe it and not so long after Mark's went either...... I'm glad you and your family are all ok.

Got me thinking now if I should sell the cab!

is it just the cabs they are after then. and where are you guys at as iv not heard of it going on in this part of the world thank god

sorry to hear the bad news mate. hope the ba5tards get caught and get chucked in prison - and hope they drop their soap!! theiving C**TS!!!

what happened to Marks car? when did it get stolen? i have a cab to, :S

..b*****ds feel for you mate but on the up side you and the mrs are ok

Trackers are all very well, but do you really want it back after some scrote has been ragging it around for however long? I'm sure there would be damage, and these things are never the same after repair. I'd sooner wash my hands and move on I think.

I heard a rumour once that insurance companies have been known to monitor forums, so be aware with what's being discussed.

Post edited, as for my car i would like to move on it just wont feel the same especialy when i heard them thrashing the nackers off it and the engine was cold (Damage Done!)

Mark's was stolen in the same way. Broke in and took his keys and the keys for his wifes car too!

just a word of advice lads... either don't bother getting trackers or don't tell your insurance company....

Been pricing up an official system up today and though i would call me insurance co to see how much it would reduce my premium...

I was horrified to lean that if i was to add a tracker to my car they would want an extra £150 off me in increased premium!!!!!!

How the hell do they work that out???????

Go figure.....

that cant be right surely as the adds say you get cheaper car insur and how the hell can they put it up if your 50% more lightly to get the car back witch means they dont pay out at all wtf

not a clue...

just looking at the tech specs for one at the min... Remote engine cut of which you can do via sms, online tracking with 1 second updates.... Alarm activated SMS, can remotely lock doors and close windows too via online interface / sms...

just waiting for wire info so i can talk with an auto spark and see if it would be compatible with the A4.

sounds very good iv heard about them locking you in till cops get there let us no the price and all. maybe we should all go back to puting in a home made cut out swich
in like i had in a few of my old cars good old dads idea and work very well too hid one under the dash some where and on one of my othere cars in the boot worked grate

Had two of the sig below stolen with keys, both via burglary whilst alseep upstairs. It's not nice. After reading a lot of the above it's obvious (and happily so) that most of you haven't actually had your personal family space invaded without invitation. Please, unless you have a gun and are used to using it accurately and under pressure, stop thinking you can stand there in your boxers with a 100watt lampshade or piece of wood saying "Stop, Thief, come back with my property"...... Coz you will fail.

CCTV is good if covered. Best is a big dog. Or big dogs.

And my opinion on trackers, etc.... Don't bother, get gap insurance. I've had a car back via tracker, it's lovely to see your baby back! But you try selling or trading a "stolen recovered" car. Cos that's what even the £3 reg checkers will show it as...... Nightmare.

i have a grade 3 alarm, day/night cctv all round, networked, including 2 on my car, a large dog and a gun licience, safe, rifles etc.
can you tell ive been done before !
trouble is, if they dont get in, they usually make a fair old mess trying and further mess just out of spite.

Oh no man!! This is really bad and im sorry to hear! I know a fair share of people in wolves so i'll get them to keep their eyes peeled!! Where abouts in wolves was it taken from? I hope you get your cars back!

Gutted to hear you've had it done too.
I'm in the lucky situation where i wouldn't even want to steal my car, but if they did come into my home. My Akita X may not be so welcoming.

Another option for you guys thinking of ways around this, and one I have thought of doing but never got round to is to fit an additional immobiliser.

I dont mean one that has a separate key on your key fob or anything like that but one as simple as a switch hidden under the dash that needs to be on for the car to start.

I cant see one of these thieves trying for long to get the car started on your driveway with the keys if it's obviously not going to start.

Yes they'll have broken into your house and accessed your car but that switch may be all that's needed to actually stop them driving away with it.

thats what i said in one of my posts above mate i think its worth doing i had it on a few of my cars and it works a treat :icon_thumright:

I wouldn't bother, if they cant start the car etc then they might come back into the house. As said once its rolling theres very little you can do to stop them. Also they may just wreck your car and **** off which imo would be more annoying and still be an insurance claim.
