Has heavily blacked out rear window which should have been a clue. Sitting in the outside lane doing 70 with nothing in the 2 inside lanes. I sat behind him like a good boy for about all of a minute before undertaking him and glaring at him as I went past. It was during the glaring that I realised my huge mistake!. The blue lights went straight on and he pulled me over for a little chat. To be fair he was as good as gold, just bored I think to be behaving so provocatively and actually just gave me a warning, probably because my licence is actually uncharacteristically clean at the moment. Never ever just got a warning when I was on 6 or 9 points!

Surely he was in the wrong in the first place for not moving over to the left hand lane when he was able?

tut-tut...

Entrapment is legal if the unmarked cars that goad you into racing them is anything to go by.

It does not sound like a traffic car, hence the warning. If it had been, they would have been in Lane1 and hence you would not have had a problem.

If you post on Pistonheads, I am sure somebody will confirm it is not a BIB traffic car.

Dont post it on Pistonheads...that place is and that area of the forum is full of idiots IMO...hence why no actual police officers post there any more...sad but true. Me being one of them.

Doesnt sound like a traffic car to me though although I could be wrong.

As for entrapment...it wasnt. However sitting in lane 3 at 70 is not the best idea...had it been traffic they would have known that and been in lane 1 I'm sure.

Could have been a car for any role really that requires a plain car.

It's not entrapment if they don't actually goad you. Just by having a slightly chavved looking car and you decided to give it a go, it's your own fault.

If they kept egging you on, coming up close and dropping back, pulling up along side and motioning you to go faster etc. WOULD be entrapment which is illegal...

Entrapment is illegal, but you have to prove it and therein lies the problem, your word against his - FAT chance!
I admit it was totally my fault, it is illegal to undertake no matter what the ****** in lane 3 is doing, but I'm finding myself doing it more & more these days. So many oblivious idiots on the road lane hogging or just incapable of negotiating a tricky "moving over" maneuvour.

Where i live i have the A1M on my doorstep, that's 4 lanes of confusion for some, personally i flash (lights), overtake, pull into the lane that the person should be in and carry on my day, sometimes with a bit of added gesticulation
