Top cars to get stolen

I was talking with my friends today about steal to order cars and it got me wondering what cars tend to be top of these lists?

When I bought my Golf GTI I was worried for some time about theft but I don't think its at the top of many steal to order lists.

What kind of cars do people think - or know about - that are likely to be stolen etc?

My mate who I was chatting to knew a guy who bought a Leon Cupra R... the theifs basically watched him buy it, followed him him and held him up at gun point for the keys! Bad times!

What about top end cars like 911's or R8's... I'd kinda expect that cars that stick out like that get stolen less as they are easier to spot. Its quite easy for a nicked GTI to blend in with all the other Golfs out there

I work for Tracker in the Control Room where i deal with thefts so i'll be good on this one lol

It'll be the usual Mercedes and BMW's. They're the most common ones to be honest. We sometimes get the Scooby or Evo. We had a phase where RS4's and RS6's were going all over the place, most probably by organised crime. They're good for quick get-away cars as you know!

Sports hatchbacks happen sometimes too like the GTI or R32, things like that. It's more of the bigger posh cars though as they're worth alot more!

All the top cars like R8's, Astons, Ferrari's, Lambo's...you get my drift. They go very rarely! Its rich folks who own them so they're locked up securely anyway which makes them impossible to nick!

Interesting... so you think the R8s / Astins / Ferraris etc dont get nicked because their owners are more careful, or because they stick out more?

I can imagine RS4s getting nicked quite a lot cos, like you say, they make ace getaway cars!

I couldnt imagine many BMW / Mercs getting nicked though!
