ok so for some reason the alarm on my S3 has started to go off for no apparent reason, it happened this morning at 8.30 and has just done it again :banghead::banghead::banghead: both times i got woken up by my mum complaining, also the lights arnt flashing when its going off, is this normal?

Did you check the display mate? As if any of the micro-switches in the door locks are knackered they can cause the alarm to come on every now and again, my alarm started going off at silly times (usualy 3 or 4am) and it was my boot lock at fault,
cheers Matt

Or the usual problems with the backup batteries on their way out. Do you get any beeps from inside the car when you start it up?

i bet its the siren in the boot. mine started to do this.
got a new siren unit from audi £80. the sirens located in the rear passenger wheel arch, but u access it from in the boot.

the batterys had leaked all over circuit board in my siren

i didnt check the display as i was in bed and just pressed my remote to shut it up, i will check in the boot but isnt the sub in the way?

Yeap I'd go with this one, turn ignition on & listen for 3 beeps from rear of car without starting her up, its the most common issue with the 8L S3 alarm, as said batteries leak acid all over the pcb & fecks it completely & new improved version is now sold, so check this, just remember the new one doesnt come with the nut, you'll see what I mean, so make sure you ask for a new nut for it as they're different size iirc from the old one.

new nut is different. i had a spare from something else.
its akward to get to, but you can DIY, probally take 2hours, evan less if you know how to take boot trim apart

just checked there are no bleeps from the back of the car

I would still go with this being the problem. They are renowned for giving up the ghost and causing problems

this used happen my a4 aswell.. hazards just would never turn off. turned out it was the lock unit in the boot was at fault got this fixed and them central locking wouldnt work had to reprogram the key so had to order a new key for it as you need two.
it was water leaking into the boot that made it faulty but sorted this out and never had trouble since.

low battery.

do you mean the main car battery? this would make sense as the car hasnt been used much probably done 8 miles in a week! oh and the alarm has gone off another 6 times tonight :banghead: the next time it does it i will be going for a drive and walking home

will check the battery after a bit of lunch, is there anyway to disconnect the siren?

it has a connector iirc so dig it out and pull the plug, immobiliser will stop anyone taking your car

left hand under the subwoofer via the boot, haven't done it myself btw

same happened to me, turned out to be the bonnet switch being knackered so the car thought the bonnet had been left open.

Yeah as Jase says there's a coonnector you can unplug & wont bother you anymore, but tbh mate you might aswell just remove it whilst you're in there & split it to see if its leaked the batteries or not, can epoxy it back together if its not this anyway, just dremel the 2 halves apart, you'll see what I mean or a hacksaw, immo will be enough atm, a scan on the car might also show whats causing the issues.

thanks for the advice guys! i didnt get around to look at the car today but will be doing it asap, wheres the best place to get a scan done on my car

Check my sig link for people willing to scan for yer.
