2003 Audi A6 Sport suspension spec

The Sport model (which I think was introduced as part of the mid-lifecycle refresh in 2001/2) came with 17" 9 Spoke alloys with 235/45 Profile tyres, Sports seats and colour coded bumpers - SE and Std had grey lower parts to the bumpers regardless of body colour - and sill extensions. It did also come with Sports suspension which if I recall correctly lowered the ride height by 20mm as well as being firmer.

The chassis code for all pre 2005 A6's is C5. C6 denotes the current model chassis which was introduced in 2005 (2006 for Avant)

Ride quality is a mix of springs, dampers and tyres. I see from another post that you have gone to 18" wheels with 40 profile tyres, this will tend to make the ride harsher as there is less flex in the tyre wall. I recently sold my 2003 1.8T Sport and now have a 2010 2.0TDie SE Avant and whilst the new car has the sports suspension (not S-Line) it also comes with 55 profile tyres and the ride is definitely better than the old car, but having said that I would not say that I found the sport suspension on the 1.8T particularly uncomfortable unless you hit a really bad piece of road. You of course also have to remember that these are big saloon/estate cars and not nimble sports cars and set expectations on ride and handling accordingly
