Hi All
Due to a snapped rear spring i have decided to purchase a complete set of springs.
Don't know which set to go for, as i don't want it too low.
The car is used for towing?
Can anyone advise a suitable make of springs to do the job??
Also how much lower than standard is a TQS?
Because all the lowering figures for the springs seem to be very vague?
Thanks All
Steve

If it is a 1.8t i have an odd TWS spring that was replaced last year kicking around. I had a similar prob and had to buy a set as i had two snapped. They did however lower the car slightly, possibly not ideal for you to tow with... The set were from ebay from Race dynamics and costed £74 delivered IIRC

Thanks For quick reply Byzan
Do you still have the standard 17 " alloys fitted? If so could you please measure from wheel rim to lip of wheel arch. My current measurement is 140mm approx.
Thanks also for the offer of the spring but i've been advised to always change them as a pair.
Was the price you paid for a complete set of 4 springs? If so could you please measure all arches?
Steve
P.s.
Yes it is an 1.8 TQS (saloon)

I measured from the floor to the lip and it's 650mm.

I am still running the 17" Ronals and the spring price was for the set complete

Ideally they should be changed as a pair but at £50 a corner per spring, people do tend to do them one at a time

Hi
Is that 650mm Front and back? If so are they still advertised on ebay? Found this set via race dynamics ebay number 290294257466. Looks like a result if they are. Also found a set of pi springs for an S4 on ebay. What do you think of em?
Thanks
Steve

I'll forget about them then. Seemed a good buy at £70.
PI springs are very good.

ive got spax on my tqs with 30mm drop it doesnt look to bad and ride gd will be gettin coilover tho

My A4 QTS Avant came back from the stealer noting a broken spring. :( Shox dont look too rosey either - I tow as well !

I dont know if the ebay ones will drop the car too much - I wouldnt want the car sitting any lower than it already is....

My springs have 4 white dots of paint on them (Audi marking) Suspension car code: 1BV - check your vechicle details when you order

I have spoken to:
The Audi parts dept (v.helpful): 67.76 per spring Pn 8D9511115T (2 types for this model!!!) shox 108.14 each pn 8d0513029f (they said that 2 of the white dots should be pink - so look closely!)

GSF: Spent ages looking for car details and pointed me to the dealer saying they cannot quote for manufactured lowered cars - Strange they have sorted out everything else I have thrown at them ?!

Euro CP have shox quoted for the 1.8 180bhp with the AJL engine with Quattro at 108.29 pn and springs.... 42.20 (each of course)
BIG HOWEVER>>>>>>>> there is a note saying that "Excl. Sports suspension" on the springs!!!!!!!!!!!!
&
AMD Tuning quoted £366.81 for a set of 4 KW shox & springs (might be lowered) units - I asked if this is lower than the QTS already sits and got the feeling that they may be std hight lowered (he couldnt confirm - ask on Monday)

Byzan A4 - could you measure your old OE spring and let us know the dimensions please?

Steveboyo - if you do go for the ebay ones can you reply to this post or pm me and let me know if they are any good -

Cheers

Michael

Mark posted the arch height on his springs just recently.

IIRC it was 650mm from road to the archlip.

Compare that to yours to get an idea how much lowering the ebay springs will provide.

It is the loose unmounted lenght I require - rather than the on car measurement.
I have an lpg tank in the boot that has lowered it to start with, I was wondering about aproaching a coil spring manufacturer and getting something more bespoke made up, like std qts ride height and an uprated lb'age

Oh ps the Kw and others can be found at europerformance.co.uk

Oooooh! :)

Just go my mits on a pair of rear billies...... Oh suit you sir......ohhhh nice and yellow! ohhh

I really hope that they are the same spec as the original QTS

Bad news gotta get the springs from the stealers thou :( Euro CP said that the springs they list for a AJL 180bhp car (I thought that was the QTS) wont fit as it says excludes sport suspension....

I may even take some pics when Im changing them this weekend......

Michael

I could measure the one i have here if that helps?

Its 12 mnths old ish, previous owner paid a fortune for it to be fitted, lol
