i was out yesterday in the glorious weather, obviously it was rather hot...
the temp gauge was sitting comfortably at the 90 point (half way)
got stuck behind a stupid old codja doing 30:banghead: then guage started creeping up untill the inevitable warning light and beep came on... at which point i pulled over straight away and sat to cool, when checking for any obiviouse damage, noticed rad was cold and the fan had not swiced on!!! but main waterpipe was hot, that leads into top of rad, could this be a bad circulation problem???(water pump) or could it just have been the weather???? car not done it since, but dont want to push it if there is a problem. has this happened to anyone else at all, and should i worrie??? thanks.

My pipe always gets hot, very hot tbh after a long run but never had the car overheat no matter how ive driven or how hot its been.

Hello, this happened to me recently...
Both rad fans were not working so check them first. My waterpump gave way after a trip in the heat with no fans. Cost me some money and I have definately learnt from it. My guess is that your waterpump will start leaking soon.
Basically, stop driving the car and get someone that knows what they are doing to look at it!!!

I've found that nearly all overheating issues with the 1.8T engines boils down to the crappy water pump with plastic impellers. Get it checked.
