Headlight started playing up and cutting out again. I took off the casing again today and straight away I could smell burning, not good.

Here's the damage

Bulb:

You can see where the part of the bulb that is supposed to hold on the power cable was snapped off by the **** that took it apart before I bought it. The cable has been moving about and eventually shorted out and melted the whole thing

Definately not good...

Going to get a new headlight unit to save anything more going wrong with it but does anyone know if it's possible to replace this part without having to replace the whole ballast unit?

DO NOT BUY A WHOLE NEW UNIT!!!

Sorry to shout, but unless the lens or projectors are damaged there is no point in forking out hundreds for a new headlight, which usually has to be ordered in from Germany anyway.

Get yourself a set of new bulbs if you haven't already (I posted a link in your original thread) and get a new adapter available here for £9.99. I'm assuming the ballast is OK and that the bulb and adapter are the only things needing replacement?

I have 2 bulbs if you want mate.

Cheers for the bulbs NHN, if I ever get to put them in I'll let you know.

That's not the right cable golf. Figured that out after buying it and taking the bumper off to realise the connector is wrong (d'oh). Cheers anyway.

Anyone know where I can a replacement ballast cable other than a scrappy?

just bought s3 zenon headlights from ebay with bulbs ballast etc. I already have zenon kit so will let you kow when they arrive mate if i need them or not.

Russ, I'm a bit surprised as to why the adapter didn't fit? It's usually a universal fit for things like these.

The end that connects to the ballast is too narrow. It should be double pin but its only a single. This link might work

If you look at a proper S3 ballast cable you'll see it's different
