Very useful mate thanks alot...

My car has cream silk napa leather X reg 2000 model

Is there any other kind of cream other than mine?

The armrest im getting is from is a 1996 and am hoping the colour matches.

probably not, luckly i managed to get a (spare) rear armrest cut the leather off that and retrimmed the front

Its pretty easy.

The instructions will help.

The part which took me the longest was cutting the hole as my car did not have the template on the underside.

Im buying 2nd hand so dont have the instructions...
Unless you would like to send me a copy of yours mate?

Do good deeds still exist these days soupie69??

Hi Guys,

I've just bought myself a B5 S4 and it doesn't have the must have arm rest. The stealer I went to today tried to quote me £400( I didn't think there was that much money in the world) for one fitted.

We argued about it and I can buy all the bits for £250 which still seems very expensive. Anyway i've had a look and can see how the centre console is bolted down at the back and bolted from the sides at the front. I can't see how I'd get it off from round the hand brake.

I'm hoping you clever guys on here can give me an idiots guide to doing this. Also if it doesn't have the impression where to cut how do you work it out?

Any info you can provide and the more pictures the better.

Thanks. Andy

The console splits at the gear stick and the centre section slides over the handbrake if you remove the leather sleave. The leather just slips off after you unclip the popper at the bottom.

Hi Guys,

I've had a result today and bought a B5 armrest with the bracket miles cheaper than Audi wanted. I have worked out how to get the console out, thanks to Soupie69 for the tip on the handbrake.

Now I'm looking at this lot and wondering if I have to cut off the original plastic hole in the console. The one at the back near the ash tray. I think I should cut this off and screw the foot to the console. Problem is I'm scared to cut something without someone who's already done this telling me I'm right. It doesn't mention this in the audiworld post but it surely must? If I put the foot under the console it'll raise it and it won't meet the carpet.

Please help anyone.

Hi Guys,

Will an Audi leather lid with part number 8L0 864 245 Q LCJ fit on a B5 arm rest.

Thanks for any help.

Some S4's didn't come with them then?????

Which A4 models got them as standard?

it was probably a low or no cost option on them all.

Some people find they get in the way, so would have deleted it when buying new.

No idea on where to cut, but i'm sure theres an outline underneath the console thata you can follow?

ive got a black leather one with pre cut console (pre facelift) ill be listing on ebay very soon if anyones interested

never have mine lowered gets in the way

I tend to lean on mine most of the time in a slightly 'sloping down' position.

It really doesn't get in the way for me.

Possibly worse for really tall people with the seat pushed right to the back?

I might be interested in this should you decide to sell.

pain in my ***...well elbow really,
seriously considered removing and selling mine.
Only thing it does is stop my son climbing through the gap with ease...doesn't stop him, just slows him down. unless he accidently pushes the button to open it when it is vertical and all my pens, fuses, cables and crap spill out all over the rear footwells.

stupid design.

may bury a boost controller in there at a later date but right now it is just a not so handy storage unit
