Well here is a festive thread:laugh:

I have looked at a few items and will be treating my self 'as you do' to a few bits and pieces for christmas.

Any suggestions? They cant be too expensive maybe upto £100 max.

I have thought of the THX (Thinks its THX) Decat downpipe £90
Vent boost gauge (Approx £90)
Induction kit not sure of which.
Silicone boost pipe from the turbo (Again £90ish)

Any thought's or other suggestions most welcome. My car is chipped to 190bhp but other than that its completely standard.

Andy:cold:

An RS4 Rear anti rolll bar might be a nice addition, should tighten up the handling a bit.

Whats the difference between the 2 roll bars? How much would an RS4 bar be?

Im thinking more a silicone pipe for the turbo and maybe decat pipe. But never thought of that antiroll bar to be honest. Good suggestion

The Rs4 one is thicker which gives you less understeer and gives the car a more planted stance when cornering.

These are the prices I got from VAGparts.com the other day.
1 x B7 RS4 22mm rear stabilizer bar 8E0-511-409-AM or 8E0-511-409-AL (which ever one is the newer part number) £45.97+vat
2 x Rubber bushings for bar - 8E0-511-327-B £1.96+vat each
2 x Clips for bar - 8E0-511-439 £2.39+vat each
4 x Bolts for rear stabilizer bar - N-101-277-06 @ .44vat each

There is a thread on it here http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=21453&highlight=Rs4+rarb

Thanks Jwhat thats very usefull.

I will look into that.

Have been looking more at turbos as well but think I need to get some cheaper stuff for christmas like the boost gauge.

Andy

ive been thinking about the rs4 arb too. Its a bit of a pudding in a tight bend and I think that would sort it out.

Ill tell you, if you want to feel the ultimate in steering and handling, sharp turn-in etc try driving an Alfa. Damn they are good. Built out of cheap crap by fiat tho, its such a shame.

:iagree:I had a 1999 Alfa GTV for a while before my current A4. This was the last in a long line of Alfas. They do drive brilliantly. i don't think that you could get an Audi to drive in near the same way, they are just to heavy. As a slight aside, in 8 years of Alfa ownership, I was only ever left without a car due to mechanical failure once. I had a 2000 Alfa 156 Selespeed and the gearbox fluid actuator pressure pump died and locked the car in neutral. I do miss an engine that makes thay noise and will happily rev to over 7000k in stock tune!:yahoo:

thats a common problem with the sillyspeeds eh.

Also the newer "fiat" alfas shed timing belts like confetti. I used to love the bemused look of passengers trying to spot the rear door handles on my 156 :)

This RS4 ARB. Will it have a noticable effect from a sport. I have read the post and take it that my ARb is 18mm and the RS4 is 22mm so in theory it will be stiffer. But will that 4mm be significant thats the question and will it be worth the £100 cost for a slight/if any difference. Also is this just a good mod for a quattro setup. Mine is only FWD.

Still worth considering I suppose.

4mm might not sound much, but going from 18mm to 22mm is a 22% increase in thickness mate, so should be noticable I would think.

If you look at silicone turbo pipes dont scrimp on them. Cheap ones with uneven weave will compress & expand as the boost changes. There are stainless steel ones out there which cost more but look prettier & eliminate this issue totally.

I have been looking for the stainless pipes and cant find them. Have you got a link to them?

I would much prefer a stainless pipe.

Also please could anyone give airfilter examples? I want to change it but not sure which is the best. I would prefer induction I think.

Andy

Can someone please tell me where to find a stainless steel turbo intake pipe. Like the silicon ones but stainless?

Been waiting a reply for over a week. Hope someone can help.

Also please could someone confirm Does the Audi A4 190bhp have a red coloured T (eg 1.8T) to distinguish itself as been a 190?

Andy

Thanks thats one question answered. I will have to look out for a red T.

Ok Now I need to know about these aluminium/ Stainless turbo intake pipes. I have found one and it is something like $400 which is rediculous for a tiny piece of pipe. Does anyone know of any others cheaper?

And can someone clarify that the decat pipe with anti fouler mod is a reliable mod? eg the ecu lights dont keep coming on from time to time etc?

Thanks to all who help

Andy

I've got the RS4 22mm ARB on my 2.5 TDi Quattro.....and its made a fantastic difference, significantly less body roll and makes car a lot more fun to drive,,,,,if I go for a B7 A4 next, the RS4 ARB will be on order straight away....

Well I was a bad boy and treated myself to a couple of bargains,

I picked up a Miltex exhaust from the Y-pipe back for £300 and a pair of RS4 B7 front Callipers, carriers and brake lines for £375 the same day my insurance settled on my old B5.

Got to save the rest for the chipping business I'm thinking of getting in to.

Firstly.. Merry Christmas!

Secondly.. I have an 01 B6 2.0 20v ALT and was wondering if the RS4 rear anti-roll bar would also improve my car in the corners?

Many thanks :)
