I know they're small in japan, but jesus, that's one big mother of an engine, it has 3 storeys! Most impressive!

I am thinking some of the bike engines are powerfull. Is the MV Agusta 1000cc engine 186hp and they are not that heavy.
How about the V8 engines made from two bike engines, pistons, rods and barrels onto a custom crankcase. At least 450hp not heavy either.
 
What, exactly, is it about this engine that alows it to achieve over 50% thermal efficiency? Why are car engines so poor at approx 25%?

Is it simply down to size? I keep telling the mrs size isnt important!
