What would be a 'good deal' in terms of a monthly lease deal on an S3 including VAT?

I've seen a few decent deals at 400-450. Consilio on here managed about £390 i believe.
It's all in the haggling my friend. Never accept their first offer and get as many written quotations as you can.

I've been looking myself and the 2009MY cars are a little (£40/month or so) more expensive than stock 2008MY cars, and if you're looking to lease you may not mind not having the facelift.

yep, £395 (£425 incl maintenance)

3 year deal, 12k a year. 5k deposit and 12.9k balloon = £32,120.

Combine that figure with negotiated discount, and retrofitted RNSe, and I have a car worth £31000, finance totalling £32,120 (less than 4%)

Ahhhhhh so thats why its £425... £5k deposit. I thought that was a fricking AWESOME price...

*still is a great price, just wondered how it was so much less than my price... *which I thought was great.* ;)

Dont mean to annoy anyone but my facelift S3 with 2k of options will be costing me £380/month for 3 years, no deposit, incl maintenance, tyres, road tax and insurance )) 10k miles/year

that a good price innit... who is it that includes insurance and a zero deposit on a personal lease??

Is this a private purchase, because it makes no sense!

Rough figures to demonstrate:
S3 with £2,000 worth of option is £29,000 less any discount, and as it's facelift I'll assume discount is small!
Tax for the additional 2 years will be £500 I think in the new system
Tyres - assume 2 sets in 30k miles will be £1000
Servicing, again, assume 2 will be £650
3 years insurance at £650 a year £1950
In total that brings the cost of the car to the lease company to £33,100
Now after 3 years lets say your car is worth £16,000

Your £380 a month x 36 equates to £13,680
So £33,100 - £13680 = £19,420
The lease company is out of pocket £3,420!!!!

No one in their right mind would sign that off?
Are you sure you haven't got a 1.6 special edition on the way :)

If it's a company car have you factored in the true cost, ie, what you're going to be taxed, cause the real world figure is a lot scarier than that.

I had the option of getting a company car and was considering the 2.0TFSI s-line.
Losing my car allowance and the amount of tax I would receive would equate to a true cost of around £540-£560 a month
I got my S3 worth £30k for the same monthly price with just a £1500 deposit and all servicing, tyres etc included and 15k miles a year allowance.

Got mine on PCP with no deposit and some negative equity in my old car.

I pay just over £500 a month for the car only, over 48 months. Will have final payment of around £12k if i wanna keep the car. (Based on 20k a year mileage)

My car was around £32k with all the options but got is discounted back down to around £29k.

exactly... the above posts are what I was thinking... it just doesnt add up to a true cost?

Mine is
3 year deal
15k a year
£1500 deposit
35 x £549 (Another £53 for maitenance)
Final payment of £11,200
Total = £31,915

Similar sort of numbers to you I guess, and could probably bring my payments down further as in 16 months I've still not hit my first years 15k miles!!!!
:)

Its not a true company car as I dont get any tax hits, but it is provided through my company. Essentially BP buy the car and lease it to me. Thats how the price is so low.

Ahhhhh, gotcha. Subsidised buys... good stuff.

Edit>> And BP... do they sub your fuel too?? :o.k:

LOL.. I wish they do..:3sadwalk: I get a penny a liter off normal fuel and 2p a liter on Ultimate!! hardly worth worrying about.. Still, I guess i cant complain with a subsidised car and over £50k a year plus final salary pension and share options etc etc.. :o.k: :blackrs4:

But isn't that a benfit and therefore should be taxed????
Otherwise every business would do it!

....Not bad for a filling station cashier

Please tell me where this deal is available!! I'll have one. That must be business lease figures, ex VAT

No its not as ownership of the car passes to me while I have the lease. So no tax. Any company could do it if they are willing to pay for it...

It doesn't matter if they pass ownership to you, I wouldn't have thought.
The source of the money is your employer.
Presumably, it could be proved they are giving you a better deal than the high street could.
Therefore, you should be paying tax.
Are you are you're not?
Maybe they've adjusted your code and you simply haven't realised.
If not, don't count your chickens that it'll go on forever.:detective2:
I know plenty of people who've been billed back-tax.

Sounds like a grey area if I'm honest mate. I'd be careful you don't get a sting further down the line, as it very much sounds like the company are funding a lot of the car, which is a benefit in kind. As bowfer said, I know lot's of people that have had a sting in the tail on this kind of stuff.
The 'company' car scheme where I work is similar, you choose you're car and you lease the car through them, only the figure is taken off your salary. You' don;t get taxed on the value of the car, so it therefore looks like a bargain, but you do get taxed on the benfit, so you're tax band goes up.
You can't get anything for free - I work for a mobile company and I can't even incetivise our customer service channels with a mobile as a prize without declaring it to our HR team.

I'm not wanting to sound like a broken record, would hate for you to get bitten further down the line!

On another note - if that price is above board I want to work for BP! :)

Surely thats a PCP, with a balloon on the end, and not a lease?

Steve184 - And if you are after a lease/PCP, what ever you want - PM me your spec etc and I'll run you a quote

yes i was talking about lease, basically glorified car hire, where you just pay your monthly amount then give the car back after the term, with no money tied up.

I'm debating on selling my TDI to take the equity out of it (about £17k) then lease an S3 (decided don't do many miles and with fuel the way it is, maybe i ought to do the fast car thing now before i simply can't afford to!)

Oli not sure exactly what I want yet, but as with anything i do if i go for it i want the absolute best deal, hence just wanted to get an idea of what is competitive for this type of scheme - seems about 380 pm is the figure to aim for.

£380 p/m means a larger deposit... and with PCP/Lease yadda yadda, you need to decide how much money you want to actually invest in it in the first instance of course... so if you dont give a decent deposit, Id be well surprised if you get anywhere near £380. All the best tho... hope you do.

oh yeh sorry i mean minimal deposit (3x monthly payments seems to be the norm)

I guess the best figure to be at then with 3x deposit would be sub £500. Further the better ;)

sorry don't get it? why would i want to pay 500? when under 400 is possible? Think i may have misunderstood something there!

well the £385 quote of marks is well under most as its a subsidised car...

You wouldnt want to pay £500 if you can... you want to pay less... but I wouldnt have thought you'd make much less??

UNLESS, you are getting subs too ?

well I have seen a deal on the internet for £330+VAT pm on a 3+23 deal - so...

exactly as above, standard S3 2009, 3+23, no maintenance, tax included.

I can't remember exactly where - on one of these lease comparison sites - haven't looked into it that deeply - just loosely, i suppose there could be a catch somewhere i guess

might not be at all... they may have ordered and not shifted, although that doesnt happen often.

Check out the mileage and excess milage charges too, plus the balloon if thats of interest.

why pay £500 for a car for a month ? you could get a boxter for that amount !

agreed! - i certainly would want more car than an S3 for £500 a month!

Theres one on there now for £319 +VAT (£374) 3+23 RFL included for term

Offer 5

Seems pretty good that to me - total for two years driving is £9,724 = £4,862 per year - bet you would lose that in depreciation alone buying one outright or at least come very close! and thats without things such as interest etc, If i put my £17k from my current car in a decent bank account it will make £74 a month in interest - that subsidises the cost down to £300 per month inc VAT

Thats my maths anyway - if its right lol! Anyone see a flaw?????

yeah, good site that for looking at prices, I think thats where I got most of mine from too.

SOunds like a good deal... have you spoke to them direct yet? When I spoke to Neva in Donny they were pretty friendly but didnt have the spec I wanted. :whip:

i have emailed them and it is correct and can be had on personal lease so 319+VAT - thats for a standard sportback 09 MY sept delivery, all road tax, but excludes niceties like maintenance - guess price would be the same on a 3dr hatch with mettallic (since price is the about the same)

They can do build to order too so you can have your own spec - I will have to think very carefully about this...
