Guys,

those of you who have ppicked up new cars from Audi, what sort of condition was the paintwork in? Is it worth getting it home and givign it a good wash, seal and couple of coats of carnuba wax, or is all this done by the dealer?

Have heard some horror stories of people collecting cars that are already covered in swirl marks etc.

Ta,

Mark

I'd wait and see Mark. My paint was mirrorlike and scratchless so only needed to introduce a wax after its first wash.

What colour are you getting? Some waxes work better on certain colours than others.

Phantom Black for me :blackrs4:...... I have some Chemical Guys XXXHardcore paste wax ( crap name, great wax...) carnuba wax that I use on my corrado. Have also just got a freebie of Turtle wax's new Ice Shine synthetic polymer wax, claimed to be easier to apply and last longer than "natural" wax's. Tried it on the g/f's punto at the weekend and seems to work fairly well, will have to see how long it lasts though....

Well you obviously know your waxes, so just keep your fingers crossed that the paint lands in good condition. I know some people have explicitly asked the dealerships not to valex the paintwork on arrival.

I had my S3 prepped by the dealer in the end (was thinking about a detail, but cashflow got in the way :( !). It was actually pretty good, with no swirl marks at all, and only a few remnants of protective coatings that have come off with a bit of polish. Personally, I have washed and waxed mine this weekend, having taken delivery last Thursday. It now looks :eyebrows: !

Anyone recommend a poo-proof wax??
Collinite (915) isn't doing a good enough job.
