I have a 07 S3 with Sympthony II+ Want to upgrade to RSN-E

First of all anyone bought from this fella?

Secondly, Whats involved exactly with fitting. I have the sharkfin on the roof with MFSW + Phone Prep + CD Changer + Audi Ipod.

I have had a read on nav plus etc, but dnt realy wanna take out the intrument cluster etc. Can I use tghe sharkfin, will the wiring be there behind the sympthony?

Just please try an d clarify whats involved. Thanks

id be carefull of the lithuania and eastern europion ones, ive heard they are either fake or stolen

Here you go....

You won't have the GPS antenna in the fin, you can mount it under the dash next to the left hand air vent. Thats where mine is and my RNSe can find 4 to 6 sats most of the time. You could PM S8craig, he is in Manchester and he'll do the whole lot for you.

I bought one for my dad from this seller a few months ago, all was good - the unit took around a week to arrive and was well packaged. It included all adapter cables and GPS antennaa, nav DVD etc. Took half hour to install and has worked without problems for 6 months.

Fitting is very easy, you shouldnt need to remove the insrument cluster - you can put the GPS antenna above the glovebox and it should get plenty of satellites from there - well mine does anyway!

Chances of your sharkfin being a GPS one along with the wiring being in the car are pretty slim I think. Much easier to install GPS above glovebox, it saves having to remove more interior trim bits to get to the sharkfin.

I'm sure I read that the UK sharkfin does have the connection but it is located in the o/s/r section of the car (behind the amp). You would require an extention cable to run from the rear to the headunit.

Will the antenna not fit behind the RSN-E?

Would i be definitely safe from this navi guy?

Thridly I would probably get craig do do this

It does, and there's a gap behind the RNS-E where it will fit, but the reception isn't that great. Above the glovebox is good, or you can use a tax disc holder that has a GPS receiver inside it which gives perfect reception. The only downside is that the summer has wilted the holder and the adhesive isn't strong enough to hold it. Looks very messy to be honest - something I will have to take care of eventually.

All you can do is check the feedback. When I bought my RNS-E from eBay nearly a year ago, this same vendor was selling them at the time so he's been doing it for a while.

Mines not fake and from Lithu!

Dave try nikin777 (ebay) thats who I and JohnS3 got ours from and no probs with ours, plus very good feedback!

I doubt there's any such thing as a fake RNS-E. Unless the vendors were selling something that wasn't an RNS-E at all, although again, the feedback from navi555 seems good.

But it is true that lots of them come from Eastern Europe. It's possible there's a factory there, or the units make their way from Ingolstadt across the border. It's been raised on navplus.us before but no-one has a definitive answer. Incidentally, mine came from a an eBay seller in London but he too was Polish!

I'm in Dublin and I have one for sale !! I only put it in the S3 in Feb but sold the car last week.

WOAH your car is O R A N G E-----!

Anyway - on the subject of RNS-E can this guy Nikin777 be trusted? I am very close to taking one off his hands..........presume they stolen but it they work who cares

So I guess when somebody steals yours and tries to flog it on ebay you won't care?

Surely if we want to stop stuff like mirrors and sat-navs being stole we all need to be a bit aware of what we are buying?

fair enough, i was only going on what i was told by an audi tech. some of the ebay auctions do seem a bit 'fishy' though ! there was a company on the bay that i was looking to get one from but was based up north somewhere and when i phoned up he said 'the last one had just gone' and he could 'get one in two weeks time', which also seemed a bit odd.
