I have random misfire with my Audi S3 and wondering if anyone can take a look at my VCDS logs to see if timing is out of spec? VAG Specialist garage said it needs a new timing chain and quoted me £1600+ after going on a test drive + data log for 10 minutes.

Misfires seem to me to be happening when engine RPM drops and the ignition timing adjustment (cyl 1) spikes down. Misfires can't be felt in the car.

All data logs: https://datazap.me/u/potato124?page=1
  1. Car goes into limp mode at wide open throttle (WOT) at 90-140mph (randomly) with no CEL light and no codes coming up on VCDS.
  2. Only 1 code was ever flagged up which was "Bank 1: Camshaft A (Intake) P0011 00 [096] - ****** Setpoint not Reached (Over-Advanced)".
  3. Random misfires across all cylinders when driving.
  4. Car doesn't have the initial kick when going WOT (accelerates a bit too smoothly?) and feels a bit down in power especially for being dyno'd at 370 bhp.
  5. Idle seems a bit up/down on start-up and sounds like it has the odd misfire but no misfires are logged at idle.
  6. Spark plugs and camshaft magnets have been replaced with no impact. Small amount of oil was found inside the connector for the exhaust camshaft magnet which has been cleaned up.
  7. PCV has oil around the hose to the turbo inlet which could indicate an issue with it causing possible misfires? Any way to test the PCV is working?
I suspect the camshaft variable oil control valve but I was not able to take it out and inspect it as I don't have the tool to remove it. Only tested it by pushing it in/out and it was fine and not stuck.
Could help if engine oil was changed but it's only had 7k miles on the current oil?

Not sure what else to diagnose or do, any help is greatly appreciated!

I would get a second opinion. A new timing chain sounds like garbage to me, and to be honest I don't know many owners who have had to do this. If the timing chain genuinely was stretched it would run badly most of the time not just some of the time only on full chat at silly speeds.
Perhaps consider getting the Cam Adjuster Solenoid replaced first
Maybe you should consider removing the remap and seeing if that cures the problem also.
Number 5 does suggest a knackered PCV.

Thank you :) Will be getting a second opinion. That's what I thought about timing chain too. Probably best to replace PCV too.

It could be a bad remap. It all depends who mapped it with what.
Only way to rule it out is flash back to factory map and drive it for a few days and see if it is the remap.

I have changed the oil and taken out the camshaft oil control valve for the variable timing on the intake (tool broke so didn't get to look at exhaust side, but the VCDS fault code was for intake side anyway...) and the part seems to be all ok. Which I was hoping it wouldn't be as that could have been an easy fix.

Will see what the second garage will come back with in the next 2 weeks. It could be the remap...

Also just noticed the misfires correlate with gear changes and sometimes when letting off throttle which might mean something... I wonder if anyone here knows if there's anything wrong with my timing from the data logs. Would be really appreciated!
