Any current owners got a issue with there cooling fans constantly being on? I noticed when I first got the car it would always be on once I turned the car off but just noticed today that it goes on as soon as I start my car. And it stays on for 10 minutes after turning my car off which is just far to long. Probably should have got it sorted before I got the decat as I can tell what they will blame it on…

not heard the fan mate.
With low outside temps it definitely sounds worth getting it checked.

My misses 128ti is doing that a lot at the moment as well. Obviously different car but suppose it depends on lots of factors. The fans are a lot more active in the new gen.

Probably something to do with the engine light being 'on' for the OPF, when turning off it will be monotoring temps within cats, early RS3 also used to run an electric water pump when switched off to cool heat build up in turbo
Diesels will do similar when doing a regen and getting turned off halfway through

But this has been happening since I collected it. Before getting the work done

O/T perhaps but I do recall my PFL RS3 running very hot from new with cooling fan pretty much on every time I stopped and parked up.

You just live with it or did it get sorted?

The first couple times I just thought it was what they did with the new ones as even if the car is parked up for half an hour, the cold start cycle happens.

wasn’t till last night when I noticed they are actually on when engine on too I thought it’s not right

It reduced after a few thousand miles^ so I just assumed it ran hot initially (run in period) then went back to normal. It was always a hot car though as I remember smelling the exhaust etc in the early days.

^I picked up my RS3 in Oct 2015 so the weather was reasonably cold for the first 6 months too.

I was hoping that but spoke to Alex with the other green LE and his doesn’t do it.

I had a faulty temp sensor post cat that would fool the ECU to believe that OPF was clogged.
ECU will turn on fans when you turn of engine as it want's to cool the engine due to the active regen strategy running, during driving the ECU will pull ignition when coasting to heat up things.
In my case I had a OPF warning in dash at pick up, brand new RS3 8Y, sensor changed and all sorted now.

That could also be related with OPF and usually its like that when regeneration is active. I told u i had big issues with RS5 2021 when i tuned it stg3 opf OFF
