You may have noticed some Frankenstein spec cars on AT have the contour ambient light across the dashboard.

Unfortunately cars specc’d with the ambient light pack after these only come with the contour ambient light over the switch panel and 4 doors. With surface lights in the centre storage and the 4 doors. Illuminated door sills and RS logo projections under the front doors. They do not have the contour ambient light across the dashboard which runs from the passenger door to the steering wheel on the carbon/aluminium looking trim.

Anybody able to source a part number and price for the dashboard contour light? With an image of the actual part so we can calculate a difficulty rating in fitting it? This would be much appreciated.

I’m hoping it’s just the trim of the dash to be replaced rather than the whole dash and there’s already a space for it’s socket so it’s just plug and play.

(Thank you in advanced!)

I think this was discussed a while back and where the ‘std’ car has the light strip across the dash the Carbon and Vorsprung models have a carbon dash panel without the light installed

It's the cars with the carbon effect dash trim that don't have the contour lighting. This was a big disappointment for me too as I had the S3 8Y and I loved that strip across the dash.

Ahh fair enough :/

Thanks for clearing it up chaps

It should be not hard but only if there loom for and wont need coding , parts wont be expensive and you will lose carbon dash , but personaly i think ambient its much batter

I will be fitting soon red vents to s3 as parts are same that should give some idea about rs3

Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if the car I end up getting in November is the 2023 facelift with a disco ball inside.

Hey guys, can anyone source part number of the light assembly parts on the dash?
My car will also come with carbon package and no illumination of the dash but I was thinking of maybe cutting it to retrofit.
If someone previously worked with carbon parts and cutting them please give some advice. Cabin seems really dark in the videos and I love that subtle line across the dashboard.

It's an ambitious project I'd say.

From my limited experience with carbon fibre, I think that it would be pretty easy to get a clean cut with something like a dremmel. I've cut through it before with hand saws and jigsaws with no issues too. I think the biggest issue will be getting the slot 100% straight as even the best hand-cut slot will have some variation I'd imagine, then it'll be amplified by adding the LED strip and will likely annoy you forever. Haha. There may also be fixings or something behind the normal version that the carbon variant doesn't have.

Good luck if you go for it, I'd love to see the process and final product if you go for it.

If we found out if there was a plug for it, could always buy the standard one with the light already attached and then get it wrapped, painted or dipped in any colour/ pattern you want. Think that would be a much better idea than cutting the original one to slot in a ambient light strip

Too much work to get it cut and its not real carbon so.not even worth

I'm told there isn't a plug for the ambient connection, but would need to have that 100% conformed by someone who's fitted red/green vents?? Agree tht sourcing the trim and getting it styled to suit would be a good idea, and in reality a P1ss easy mod!!!!:thumbs up:
