Hi all,
I'm trying to track down the reason for my car fogging up when it's wet, the ventilation system actively fogs it up.
If I sit in the car in the rain for a while with the car turned off then nothing fogs up, as soon as the AC system is turned on it fogs up, it's not great fun while driving.
The intake box is dry as a bone, I wondered if anyone knew of there are any other drains in the system which may be blocked?
Thanks.

Is there a damp wet smell in the car when you leave over night?

No smells in particular and if the weather is dry there is no problem, if it's damp it fogs up pretty quick. Sticking the screen demist sorts it for a while but it comes back as soon as you revert to auto mode.

you get this with most cars, it's the humidity that enters the car creating a different atmosphere to that of a dry one which was already present wthin the car which causes it.

Any moisture on shoes, hair, clothes etc will cause the issue

It's definitely not right, if I'm driving down the road then everything is fine, it starts raining and the car fogs up.
Also I sit in the car for 10 minutes with nothing turned on (maybe I'm working on something) then turn it on, the windows fog up straight away. The climate control is actively fogging the windows up.
I can't remember if I've changed the cabin filter, I might start there.
Has anyone any idea if there are any drains on the AC circuit?

Definately not right as you say and on one of my cars in the past (Ford Puma) had an A/C drain pipe come off which pooled water under the passenger foot well carpets. This led to the exact symptons you describe. I can't help with your question about drain locations but have you checked if water drips under the car with the a/c on? It should do after a few minutes, if it doesn't its staying inside your car.

Hopefully someone will post up a diagram from erWin for you.

It is possible that the air recirculation its stuck on closed.. put the ventilation on and press the air recirculation buton and listen ,you should hear a slight change in the sound of blowing air if it works, good luck also if you’re using the aircon maje a habit of turning it of 5 min before you’d park the car and leave it on recirculation, this will dry of the condensation indide the pipes so that smelly mould/bacteria will not form inside ,cheers!
