Clutch pedal

Both had this happen on my 2011 8P but it sorted it self out.

2016 8V 31,000 on clock had to get recovered is this a common fault ?

Fixed now was the clutch cylinder behind clutch pedal. Could have been worse one in gearbox

It was probably the slave the first time. My daughter's TT had the same issue. Lifting the pedal and pumping it would bring clutch operation back for a while. New clutch time since the hydraulic slave cylinder is integrated with the clutch release bearing, is around the gearbox input shaft and the gearbox has to come out to change it. OEM part can be bought for less than £40 but it is a long job to change it.

Thanks for that mechanic is coming later to bleed it. He did mention that when he needed it girdt time the oil was black. Sounds About right cheap part expensive to change. Do you know how much Audi would charge ?. Thinking pay extra get it done right.

Unless its leaking externally I doubt bleeding will do much long term good
If it's the slave, you may as well fit a new clutch whilst in there. Daughter's TT is fwd and it cost £600 including parts. I would guess Audi dealer would charge around £1500 but don't know. Its only nuts and bolts but not a job I would fancy doing.
Suggest you find a local independent VAG specialist that knows what they are doing and speak to them for advice and prices.

Mechanic came about an hour ago bled it using a pressure system all good now. But going to take it to his garage so he can remove the under tray.

Says tray is good at soaking leaks up Could possibly be one in gear box known for seals going. Who would design it this way. Days of old it would be on the outside of the engine. He says its a 2 man job just to remove all the gubbins.

He was also surprised how it had emptied the reservoir in 2 1/2 days might have been quite a bit of air in there.

And how he didn't look at the undertray or where all the fluid had gone when he changed the master...
