I have taken my sq5 into Audi for it’s oil change and 4 new tyres, at the same time I requested to check what could be the cause of my brake pedal to be creaking when I let off the pedal. It turns out now it needs a new brake servo at a price of £1847, I have a warranty from where I bought it from that only covers up to £1000. Would you take it to a specialist for a cheaper price or would you guys just leave it alone?

I'd be asking for a sizeable goodwill gesture from Audi given its only 4 years old and presumably been serviced at main dealer throughout...

My 18 plate SQ5 had gone in for the same issue...creak + clang on letting go and it was indeed the servo at fault.
I found a TPI about it and got them to do it under warranty at the time although interestingly, the invoice states around £900 for parts. They also confirmed it was part of the TPI they had too but I can't for the life of me remember what it was although I can see from my messages to them it was found on a number of forums so maybe search it out.

Cylinder (second most at £178)
Screw
Reservoir
Brake Line
Brake Line
Brake Servo (being the most at £229)
Screw
Secur.set

Sounds like you've had it for a short period of time...?
Other option is to look at specialists rather than main dealer although main dealer did say it was a fairly big job replacing it and they had only done a handful themselves on the SQ5.

There were a number of other recalls so do check those are done too - from memory, the wheel arch, corrosion and software update to door modules (51G5, 64F6, 66K8)

All the above is assuming you have the facelift model

I remember that issue when I had mine, although mine didnt seem to suffer badly. But as a known issue with a TPI the goodwill repair comment stands even more....

Hi yes that’s right I have only had it for around 4 months now give or take. I have just spoken to the warranty company and I can use any VAT registered garage if my choice so I’m going to ring around a few specialist garages in my area which I know are good and reputable to find a quote closer the £1000 limit.

It is annoying as i am lead to believe a servo should be a part that lasts the life of the car itself.

Grab the tpi from other member whose commented if he's willing, I'm sure he can get that from the dealer with his vin records so to speak, then challenge audi as its a known issue, its best to get them to do it imho.

I had this problem on my 2018 model Q5, and I posted this thread after the repairs had been completed in April 2019....hope it helps:-

My Q5 had the brake servo, master cylinder and reservoir modification under warranty, and I'm pleased to report that the brake pedal 'clanging' noise has been totally eliminated, and the ABS activation click is virtually undetectable. The work took a full day.

Also, when applying the brakes they seem much more progressive and smoother.

Audi confirmed the TPI number for this fault is 2051920/2

My 2018 SQ5 had the same issue. Replacement/modified brake servo was fitted under warranty. Although you are out of warranty I’d push for goodwill from Audi as this is a safety issue.

It is being repaired under my 3rd party warranty company with a quote around £770 including labour and diagnostics. Unfortunately before this gets fixed the sq5 has now decided to throw up a steering: Fault. Please stop vehicle so now this is something I have to try and sort all before Xmas too!

As the systems interact, it could just be due to the abs module fault too, need to check diagnostics to see what the fault is.

I'm watching this: Driving the car today without the radio on, I thought I heard a faint tick coming off the brakes.
