Can WMI clean out PCV system???

Good day chaps,

Just had this strange happening occur. Yesterday went for a mountain with a couple of my friends (one has a Stage 2 Seat Cupra MK2, other a Renault Megane RS Stage 1, another small frame turbo e46) and I went through my whole WMI reservoir on about a 20 mile hill climb route.
For fun I filled up the WMI reservoir with a 60% meth and 40% water mix, everytime I let off the gas the car would spit flames and do some bangs (it would go BAM). (I know you're not supposed to go higher than 50/50 but I thought why not, a one time occurance)

All was well, had great fun. When I arrived back home I went to empty the catch can (hadn't done so in a week) and to my suprise it was nearly empty! There was a tiny bit of gunk at the bottom but the walls of the catch can and the top were completely clean. Usually it would be covered in the typical PCV gunk.
So I decided to investigate a bit further and removed the whole PCV piping and so my suprise they were all clean! No gunk, nothing! As if it were brand new.

Now I know WMI steam cleans the pistons and cylinder walls and valves and throttle body and eliminates carbon deposits but cleaning out the PCV system? I haven't read or heard about that so far.
I haven't changed anything to the car. I am not particularly worried but just sharing something that happened and I found a bit strange. Anyone experience something similar??

Meth makes your car richer think it’s natural, I’d stick to 50/50 does your car feel slower with the meth ?

Mmmmmm, quite strange no? I seriously wonder what would have caused this. Normally the PCV system is full of junk but after the mountain run, nothing!

Didn't notice a difference! Well, maybe also partially because I was pumped with adrenaline flying through the corners at 70mph on a narrow mountain road with trees and stone walls and either side with a straight piped Cupra and a boosted E46 flying behind and infront of me.
When I was running straight distilled water and put in a 50/50 blend, I could immediately notice the difference. Car did feel nippier with 50/50 blend than with the straight distilled water.
 
There might be more oil in the catch can with the **** to mix it up and make it not look so gunky If you don’t have a baffled sump it sloshes everywhere could probably be flushing through god knows ? My car didn’t like 2 nozzles of meth was just bogging instantly 1 nozzle and 50/50 is perfect runs a dream I wouldn’t mess with it too much if it’s not mapped in youre only using it for cooling ? Flames are cool though

Correct! I am not mapped for it, just use it as cooling as I have a twin pass FMIC painted in black... Lol. So in the Spanish heat in Mallorca it doesn't do too well... I am running 1 nozzle pre throttle body - post intercooler.

I will probably go back to the 50/50 but the 60/40 was quite fun! Was really funny to see the cyclists and tourists face everytime I left off, it would bang hard and spit out flames. Some were shaking their head

. Was a fun day yesterday, will go back to the 50/50 mix but still find this event of the PCV system getting cleaned out is normal or not
 
WMI is in the charge air system... under normal operation it will simply end up being evaporated in the cylinder... however... depending on how you have your PCV system plumbed up there is a very small chance that residual WMI could find its way into the PCV system... this would not be under boost conditions when WMI is typically operational but more on letting off the throttle and it being either sucked via vacuum back through the inlet mani and PCV (assuming its still connected via factory pipes) or possibly via the DV if you have that fitted after the WMI nozzle...

Given the PCV system is designed to manage the air pressure generated in the block of the engine I'd be concerned if WMI was finding its way into the block as realistically the only way it could do that is to wash past the rings and in that case it could create bore wash and dilute the oil (both of which are bad)

Just to clear a couple things up. One of the main reasons why people run 50/50 water Meth is for safety. Yes it’s still flammable at that ratio but not near as much as higher ratios.

If your car is not mapped for it then you also don’t want to be going more than 50/50. A single nozzle on a car not mapped for it is fine because all it’s doing is aiding intake temps so everything runs more efficiently.

On the other hand, if you mapped for it then you can go 100% meth…. But you don’t get the benefits of water in the mix. 80/20 is as high as anyone really goes with it.

Also goes back to the original thread discussing this that you do see more benefits from running 50/50 over 100% water.

Back on topic - as Tuffty mentioned running meth “shouldn’t” make any differences to your PCV. I’ve been running water Meth for a few years and on my last build I saw the catch can fill up with the usual gunk you’d expect to see.
