Just been told from my insurance that unfortunately my 2009 1.4tfsi audi a3 has become a Write off making it a Cat N.
It may not be much to some but it was alot to me as it was my first sports car, probably the first car that i have owned that has made me want to get into cars so much more, currently looking for something similar, but struggling to find anything decent compared to what i had, would like some suggestions on where to look, i am happy to travel, located in south east London.
Many thanks.

Man, sad news, sorry to hear that :-((

I totally understand, we've had our 2006 A3 since new and my wife says that she (Audi) is my mistress - that she is ok with ;-)

In our case, I am pretty sure any accident that would require more than a bumper would result in the car being a write off, as the book value is now pretty low and repair costs so high.

Be patient, perhaps get just an inexpensive transportation vehicle for now and keep looking for that perfect car. Hopefully another Audi.

Good luck !!

Cat N isnt necessarily unusable, what is the damage extent.

The damage is not too much to fix but i have been offered £100 odd more than what i paid for the car 6 weeks ago, by the claim, the repair company provided by the insurance have quoted £200ish more than what the book value is and have therefore said beyond economical repair.

Ask them if you can keep the car & repair easily, its minor damage tbh.

lol i was imagining itd be a mess. youve just got yourself a gift right there. keep the car, the insurance will say it is worth X, usually a percentage of the market value. eg. they offer you £3000, they say the salvage value is 30% so £900, you get paid £2100 and keep the car. second hand bumper, maybbbeeee get the arch repaired, shouldnt cost more than £500.

whats the story with the damage? someone hit you or?

I know it seems to over exaggerating but im pretty upset, as it being my second car and for only having it for 6 weeks, i do have the options as you say but im a bit stucj for what to do

Second hand bumper and arch repair.

If your that attached to it buy it off the insurance company and get it done and you will be quids in. For that amount of damage I wouldn’t even repair it and just run about in it.

It will be cat N though so will affect its resale value but if you love it that much, run it till it dies.

Or just move on. Plenty more cars out there.

Thats what i mean, when it comes to re-sell am i gonna struggle to sell? And my insurance will be cancelled whatever i do so have to repay for insurance on it as a cat N so price may go up, wether its a lot or not i do not know

Your insurance will go up whatever you decide to do as you are seen as a higher risk (regardless of fault).
