Facelift Rear plate foam backing removable?

It can but i believe it's there to stop noise & vibration?. Why not get one of those ''German'' style number plate holders or an ''Audi Sport'' holder?,that's what i have on mine & the foam backing is still in place.
Yeah i have the audi sport holder just now. Was just thinking I might prefer to get a short number plate instead. I assumed it was there for vibration and noise purposes but figured with thick enough double sided tape could that do the same job?

If you do go for the shorter style plate remember to keep it legal, the letters, Font style & spacing will still need to be the same as a 'full'' size plate.
Ideal! Assuming it's just on with adhesive? Do the screw holes protrude out from the body or are they flush?

Took mine off shortly after buying the car.
Used a heat gun to soften the adhesive to peel most of it off, then used Autosmart Tardis to remove residue, polished the paint after then fitted the Audisport plate holder.
