Facelift Unitronic Inlet elbow

Yup but for me it’s gonna fit better than the Forge did.
Not perfect solution because RHD cars are hampered by the servo.

Totally with you on RHD servo being the restrictive issue.. Strange how Forge is no issue for some and others have. On mine ive done 25,000 + miles now faultless.

I’ve noticed a bigger improvement in the Revo from the Unitronic than I did from OEM to Unitronic.
Low down Responce and the mid range with noticeable improvement even on a warm day like today.

Lol why ? Because you fitted it ? so it’s a given everyone else has to emoji23]

why? Because you’ve been across multiple threads complaining about fitment of the uni and delays on revo for months, and still not sorted

Far too much wheel reinventing for such a minor component that already exists

Complaining

Get yer facts right you muppet.

1) Unitronic elbow was wrong when it turned up.
Swapped to the correct one by Simon at TTE. No issues until I was running out of WGDC as told by the guy who supplied the custom tune, his recommendation get a bigger elbow.

2) Revo was delayed, what’s that got to do me or anyone else ? Can’t control the production at Revo’s suppliers and the pandemic hasn’t helped.

3) Bought and fitted the forge in the interim to see if it fitted, it doesn’t, least not in my eyes anyway, if people accept the fact it’s touching the chassis / brake servo then that’s up to them, for me it’s too big for the space it’s got to go in.

4) I looked at the Eventuri but didn’t want a carbon one and didn’t like the way it’s essentially jubilee clipped to the turbo flange.

5) I share all my findings whenever I fit something to the car.

6) if you don’t like what you read sorry jog on, your attitude isn’t wanted, maybe you should re-invent your replies and as for re-inventing things, what has it got to do with you ?

People try new parts / approaches all the time be it brakes / suspension / remaps / etc.

To clarify, are you saying you notice an improvement going from uni to revo? Or did you mean the improvement between oem to uni and oem to revo was bigger?

Could well be a case of (slightly) more restriction = moving the power band down the RPM range. Would give the effect you describe where a freer flowing one would not likely have an effect on midrange torque. Would/will be interesting to see what a dyno says is happening up top compared to your previous setup.

Having been out again in the car the mid range - top end is a lot stronger.

Interesting, do you have a further dyno runs planned?

Will be getting back on it at some point.

Going to try to do some 4th gear pulls while logging to see if the WGDC is looking any better.
Probably at the point of minimal gains now with stock Rods / turbo etc.

4th gear pulls in the road, brave man!

Yea won’t be much headroom. Always those pesky rods

It can be done but only a couple of times on a stretch of road 10 mins away from work.

It’s tempting to get the rods / pistons done next.
Going to speak to Charlie at Peron about this next time I’m there.

Not a bad idea but will always be a big outlay. I’m tempted to get ds1 and cap at 600nm I’m not bothered to much with max power but more so for sound had my stage 2 fun already.

True.
DS1 will certainly be good for that.

I’ve just gotta get off my ethanol mix addiction now

New pre-production 4” hard pipe and air box lid on their way to me courtesy of Paul at Revo HQ.

Hard pipe is 4-6 weeks off being in stock I’m told.

Is the airbox lid design changed with a larger outlet ? When I was looking at the inlet temp graphs for this elbow there where a few spikes above the OEM. Do you think there may be any room to add any extra insulation ?if not I may just wrap in heat reflective gold tape. I am very interested in this set up.

The Airbox is more bulbous and rounded in its design.
The Elbow and new 4” hard pipe are both Zircotec coated.

I just picked up the Revo elbow today myself. Keen to get it installed after having the Forge on there now, and loathing the design. It literally doesn't fit, I know some others find it ok, but it brings so much vibration through the pedals, and fouls about 4 places. Shocking that its even sold tbh. I find the same issue with the intercooler for the TTRS where it needs to have the rad supports cut to accept it.

My question for @T-1000 Is about the coupler used on the 4 inch hard pipe, was that supplied by Revo? I have the APR intake and have concerns with fitting, as i have a straight 4inch to 4inch coupler but not sure if that will fit the Revo elbow as it seems slightly larger than 4 inch.

The one that comes with the elbow is reduced down to 3.5 inch so will not fit the APR

The Revo coupler is indeed a little bigger inside 106 iirc whereas a standard ‘off the shelf’ is 102

Maybe worth asking Revo if they can supply one of their couplers ?

I also now have Revo. I pre emptied and bought this coupler from Vivid racing in the US. It fits perfectly to the Revo and my HG hard intake pipe which is 89mm. It's the one on the right....

Which intercooler for the TT RS required the rad support to be cut mate?

@T-1000 I just had word from Revo that the 4" hard pipe is likely 2 months away still!

Is the Revo elbow fitted now? Reason I ask is I'm looking to go from the Forge to the Revo just wondering about the difference's you've noticed. I've also got the forge hard pipe but I've managed to get a reducer imported from Brian Tooley Racing (US)

Yeah, fitted over a month now and very happy with it. I have not noticed any difference running the car with it even tho I am running MRC stage 1. But, its a great fit and no rubbing anywhere. @T1000 may be able to give more info on results. But, for fitment alone, I would more than recommend it over others on the market (which shouldnt be!). Also I ended up using the Revo supplied reducer which mated up fine to my 89mm HG intake pipe. The Murray clamp brought the opening down eveningly to a tight fit. And a big shout out to T1000 who helped me immensley when i needed it most.....

I’ve no complaints here also, although you must remember I’m on the Revo 4” hard pipe and air box cover.

Gains for my car have been better WGDC at WOT in 4th, it’s marginal but it’s not maxing out as much like it was on the Unitronic 3” elbow
When you are on a custom map like I am you need every little bit of air flow you can.

Car is very responsive and strong, especially higher up the Rev range.
One thing I have changed, the BMC filter is gone and ‘shock horror’ the standard Audi filter is back.

I’ve no vibrations on hard acceleration and it’s not touching anything when the engine rocks.

It doesn’t appear to be coming loose either after heat cycles / vibration like some of the USA guys reported, but I never had that even with the unitronic, I think that’s more down to bad fitting than anything else.

I picked up the revo inlet and I’m trying to get it in the car and mates to my current intake. The silicone reducer it came with won’t work because my intake is the cats 3” one.

Anyway, what I wanted to know was what diameter in the reducer that comes with the inlet

Reducer goes from 106mm to 93mm iirc.

I know you can buy a suitable reducer online.
