Who was looking a Colour DIS?

My Rs4 b7 dash turned up today . Just need someone to code it for me ?? Anyone local to Northamptonshire ??

Could be worth looking a little further outside the box and find someone who specialises in the vw car or transporter scene, i know cluster swaps are quite common on those VAG products

I’ve only gone and bricked both my dashboards and car is stuck a mile from home outside the missus house . I never should have tried to do it myself . No immobiliser is stuck on radio has gone into safe mode and now I’m stuck . Help will a proper copy of vag com get unit working . Or do I have to send ecu and dash away to get linked up again !!! Help please I tried to use vag dash can it worked on mileage changes etc . I backed up my dash . Then it wouldn’t allow me to reload that file into program so now I’m stuck with 2 dashboard with issues that won’t talk to Vcds and both info centres stopped working

I like the idea of the upgraded dash, but it seems too much of a risk to attempt to change. It's hardly a "colour" screen either, more like white/green/yellow?
 
Just trying to get back to the point where I was before I tried to upgrade the dash !!! At a cost of £200 so far and an extra 30k on my mileage . As I’m not going to risk changing it back
And now I need to code in a spare key to new ecu and dash. But I don’t have the security code so I can’t do it . Is it possible to get code easily ??

The chap who coded your new clocks should have been able to give it to you.

It's called PIN/SKC and should be 7 digits
 
But I’ve ordered a Abrites box to get pin codes etc and reflash keys . So I can sell on my old ecu or the tuned one I got to get me back up and running . Saying that . It off the road next week for its engine forged pistons rods refresh with k04 s3 upgrade parts pics to follow

i believe you need vag taco to do the clocks it can search out the codes you need to reprogram stuff, theres some decent youtube videos, if im not mistaken vcds cant do it unless you have the codes.

Had a guy with abrites do it.
It cant be done with either vagcom or vagtacho, B6 with RB4 encr. can be done with vagtacho. B7 has RB8.

The guy said it probably is best to get one as close as possible to your own model, if you check out etka, there is a ton of different revisions/models.
I vagcommed my partnr., and found the equivalent but just with color dis. It takes some time to see the logic, but its there.
Bought a used speedo with correct part.nr. and paid the guy about 100 pounds to do it. Its a complete clone of the original one.

I just print screened the coding of the old one, and coded the new one after swap. Works perfect.

Who sorted it for you fella? The logic does seem very simple.
 
The Logic is differnce in 3 and 8 ( and one more maybe) in the partnr somewhere. Think it was the second last.
If sorted means fixed it, it was a guy here in Norway. (Explaination of my Odd grammar)

If you find a company That does sat nav fixes, codes keys, and other module parts, or a tuner, could be they have abrites. Thats where you find it in Norway
 
Hate to be a damp squid and all that but i cant see the major benefit of the dash swap to be honest.
none of the dash layouts are really that exciting.
a few extra colours, it is a lot of hassle for very little gain , and come on guys, how long do you really spend looking at it.
a glance here and there , a brief look to keep an eye on things , but nothing to get excited about.

still a personal choice thing again, so many choices.
 
Of course its nothing you need, or gives you an extra benefit, but its possible. Its equipment you can add, it was available, so then i want it.
same as recaros, just the same comfort as sports/s-Line chairs, but its way cooler
Same with the colour dis.
i also want the compassmirror, dont need it, but it available

Same could be said for alloy wheels or grills yet we all want an RS honeycomb..

Agreed but some changes have a bigger overall impact than others, i'm not sure for the very minimal changes it would provide make it worthwhile.
If dash swaps are your thing then fair play go for it and like always mentioned, it's a personal preference thing.
 
I must be in the minority that prefers the red/orange LCD panel over the colour one! I don't like the colour one as it doesn't match the two red screens in the mileage and time/date clocks beside it.
 
I'm colour blind so they both look pretty well the same..lol
It was a few years after I bought the car that I realised there were two different displays.
 
I have a dash for sale as I tried to fit one and it wouldn’t work with mine and ended up messing it up so not trying it again lol
