Hello,

I've been working to clear all issues with the vehicle and I'm left with one error (00858 short to ground) that pops up under 37-Navigation and 56-Radio.

The car originally came with the Audi Concert ii+ radio and has been converted to the gen 1 RNS-E by the previous owner (I assume that a 3rd party workshop did the job).

The radio works fine, but I'm not sure how to solve this error. I don't exactly know if I need to replace any parts. Any idea?

That post shows an open circuit issue, which could be totally unrelated to my issue. Since mine has been converted, the workshop that did the conversion might have cheaped out on the conversion by either doing an incomplete conversion or used incorrect parts.

Your fault code 00858 shows either
00858 - Connection; Radio IF Output to Antenna Amplifier: Short to Ground

or

00858 - Connection; Radio IF Output to Antenna Amplifier: Open Circuit

No offense, but if you actually read my first post you'd already know.
Once again: Short to Ground

If you check the code against Ross-Tech fault codes it tells you where to start looking for where ur problem might stem from .

I did read the description provided by Ross-Tech, but I am not sure what "DIY" things I'll find in the vehicle. I need some schematics of how the RNS-E antenna system works so that I know if what is in the vehicle is correct.

I believe that the workshop used an adapter to adapt the antenna connector to the connector for the RNS-E, but I'll have to pull the radio to check it.

I did find this thread which shows the conversion from a Symphony II, but I'm not sure if the antenna system of the Symphony II is the same as the Concert II+.

I think this post here explains what happens with an open circuit, and possibly would give the same results on short to ground.

Am I being thick and missing something. Your radio works fine, but has a error code, possibly due to the antenna not being powered, which is easy to solve.
So what’s the point? Are you just trying to clear all codes? If it works, leave it imho.

also does the car know it has rsne fitted and doesn’t think it still has the original hu?

Possibly is working fine, but maybe not optimal.

The car should know that it has an RNS-E, otherwise, it would possibly throw an error code on the radio/navigation section.

I got the second one 00858 - Connection; Radio IF Output to Antenna Amplifier: Open Circuit
and the nav does't work now. What can i do to fix it ?

I fixed my PDC and when e searched for the buzzer i disconnect something along the way either on left or in the boot lid

The same problem ocurred now a week later but this time vcds says navigation cannot be reached
