Posting on this side of the forum as the A5 side is pretty quiet (hope that’s ok)

Quick background, I’m looking at getting an RS Style Grill fitted to my S5 but as it’s got the 360 camera it’s not a straight forward swap as the mounting needs to be correct for the view to still look right. Most Chinese replicas struggle to get this right.

Found this company down in London called Audi Retrofits in Iver who supplies and fits RS Style grilles and also does other various Audi retrofits, seems to know his stuff and is confident he can keep my camera functioning as normal after fitting.

I’m just waiting to hear back on a price but just wanted to ask if anyone had been to him before for any work? Reviews seem good online but I’m up in the Midlands so hadn’t come across the company before, didn’t think it would harm to ask on here :)

Audi Retro fits ??
is this part of Fontain Motors (audi sales) in Iver ?
If it is they have been around for many years - I have no knowledge/experience about the company though.

Always liked the look of Audi Retrofits and their Instagram is a good account to watch and check out. However, I have had a few quotes quote from them and Djalix and the latter has always been cheaper. I have yet to use either of the services so can’t vouch for either of them in that sense but going by price then I would go with DJalix/ VAG car coding.

Think they are both based around London.

Not sure to be honest not being from around there, I’ve done a quick google and the two don’t seem to be linked though.

Yeah I follow them on insta too, seems to know what he’s on about and has a variety of cars in. I know DJAlix is on here too who runs VAG Car Coding, he’s incredibly helpful from past experiences. I contacted him a few months back over the phone about an issue I was having and he saved me quite a bit of money with the advice he gave.

I had considered going to him, the appeal of this other place was that they’d supply the grill they would fit too which makes the process easier for me given there seems to be a few iffy grilles out there of varying quality.

I used Audi Retrofits a couple of years ago to retrofit Hold Assist. At the time they were the cheapest of 3 quotes I got, and encouraged by their website and Facebook I went with them. I live an hour and a half drive away, so no chance to check them out in advance, and I had a bit of a shock when I turned up for the work. Premises were just an anonymous lock-up on a scruffy old-style industrial estate. Things were not helped by Ash having overlooked my booking, so after contacting him by phone I had to wait for 40 minutes for him to turn up. Anyway, the work was carried out while I went to the local pub for a long lunch (nowhere to wait on site). Ash was friendly and knowledgeable and his work was fine, though I did need to do a little tidying up on the under-bonnet wiring afterwards. Despite the impression given on his website he seemed to be a one-man band, certainly not part of a larger organisation. Bear in mind that this was 2 years ago and things may have changed.

@Bells you say you're in the Midlands so why not try a partner of @DJAlix who I used for my retrofits. They are called VAGPro and based in Oadby near Leicester. They come highly recommend and no job is too small or too big.
I would not fit a grill myself, I did on my own vehicle but I don’t offer this service to customers. VAGPro would do this however but the issue would be supply of the grill. If you want genuine then it’s no issue but cannot underwrite 3rd party stuff so this would need to be a “bring your own parts” job.

Thanks for all the comments and feedback. To be honest if I didn’t have the 360 camera I’d have just taken it to my local Audi approved body shop and got them to fit an RS Style one but given there’s so many issues touted about the camera mounts online that made me think about taking it to somewhere a bit more specialised that has experience with retrofits and coding etc.

I’ve been looking a bit more at OEM Black Edition grilles today that you can get hold of so may go down that route, it seems like a more straightforward option as at least I know I won’t have any issues with fitment then :tearsofjoy:

Did you get the RD style grille done in the end? I'm very tempted to get it done to my S5 and came across your original post and would be interested to hear what/where you went in the end!!
