Hi guys,

I'm looking at potentially purchasing a 2013 Audi A4 Avant 2.0 tfsi black edition Automatic.

Is there anything in particular I should be looking out for?

What are the service intervals and when should things like water pump and thermostat be changed? Timing chain etc?

I have heard horror stories about the S4 automatic gearbox from this era, is it the same situation with the A4?

Very new to Audi's as I am coming from a Porsche (please don't judge) so any help would be appreciated! Cheers

There is known oil consumption on these engines up to 2012. 2013 should be facelift model and issue resolved, is it 225ps model if so that's ea888 gen 3 engine with second set of injectors in the inlet which helps with cleaning valves and reduced coking up, common with direct injection engines.

Also early stronic gearboxes had issues but there where various revisions throughout the b8 lifespan, 2013 is probably ok but worth a search on forum. You should make sure you had gear box oil and filter change as per manufacturers spec, iirc it's around every 37k.

Chains do stretch, mine was rattling at around 75k so had it replaced along with tensioners.

As well as above, make sure it has a good service record for oil changes at correct intervals etc. There are a lot more knowlegable chaps here. Give it time and they will respond

Thanks

Nice one Matthew, thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.

The one I've got my eye on is indeed the facelift model but it's 208ps, would it be better to wait for the 225ps model instead?

I have read about the 37k gearbox oil change so will definitely look out for that too.

It's personal preference mate. I really wanted a face lift quattro and I think that only came in the 225ps. I'm not familiar with the 208ps variant though. Send us a link to the sale.
