Ordered new gas shocks for boot, new set of mats, entire new thermostat inc housing, new aftermarket armrest lid (there are two types), new wiper blades.
I also suspect that the battery is on the way out too, they way it very slowly turned over whilst starting this morning.
You'll have to replace the whole bumper if you want that fixed.Sadly spotted this... will need to replace at some point.
It's only the grill, not the bumper. Still a lot to replace though for one and common broken mount!
Looks very nice Alex, I think you can get away with the black trim very well against Red paintwork as its still a good contrast, not sure it would look
as good on a black bus though.
One can have too much black on a black car in my opinion, but its great on yours Alex.
May sound obvious but i put my shims on and found the fan was only hitting the bottom of the window so I took the jets back off removed the shim and put it the opposite side of the hole and refitted the jets and it now sprays more or less half way up the window, so you could try that, as far as the bumper alignment goes to the bonnet i really don't get what people mean i haven't got any adjusters as its part of the oem crash bar which gets binned with the airtec fmic and I haven't got an issue, well not one that i notice or bothers me so in my experience they cant do that much.
Look good Alex i looked into this and honestly don't see a way that it can look 100% or at least stay in place over time, let alone the amount of patience it must take that i cant be bothered with lol, what's it really look like up close? Is it worth the hassle or will someone pick up its wrapped up close? To me it looks like one of them jobs that it needs to be removed to get it right?
Ricky might sound obvious to you but to me (as he looks at the ceiling) ok never even entered my mind so thanks for that enlightenment appreciated will try tomorrow night. Looking at the adjusters I thought exactly the same but surprised how much they do lift the bumper, so maybe you were just lucky with yours. Think my problem is never even thought about the gap until I changed grill now I can’t stop looking at it !! It’s all in my head. That all said it’s a really poor design as are quite a few things on the b7, son in law has a a5 and we took his bumper off and on absolute doddle. But we all love em all the same
I fitted the shims without thinking about and thought its all genuine parts and there terrible then a brain cell switched on and i though id just put the shim at the opposite side so the jets are closer to the edge of the bonnet (near windscreen) and that solved it, there not amazing compared to previous cars but there night and day difference to the dribbles i had before fitting the "fan spray" jets. Good luck mate sound like your having a bit of bad luck, sit back have a cup of tea and look at it another day.
Well my bumper looks ok to me without the adjusters and it hasn't fell off at a couple trips to 150mph (in Mexico) so I must be the exception lol, if for some reason my bumper isn't aligned properly its not enough for me to notice or worry about and sturdiness seems more than fine to me, some people and manufactures over think bumpers, they really don't need much to stay on safely, don't get me wrong though i have seen some very poorly aligned front bumpers on the b7 but me personally I haven't tried to align mine in the numerous times I've had it on and off and its always fitted fine to me.
That was my worry you know being a painter you always look at things and think that could be better and I know its time consuming and don't think I can spend that amount of time on a job that's not right, if you do go the route of removing the strips let me know how you get on as id be up for doing it but I know these vag trims are a complete ball ache, your car looks awesome with the black trims so i may be up for it ill just let you go first and see after how many days it takes and what you break lol.
Yeah its a tricky one I did the mrs chrome fog light surrounds using plastic primer, etch then a couple coats of wet on wet then 2k paint and after a year they got maybe 2 stone chips in but seem to be holding up great I did the same on my Mercedes trims and they looked terrible after a year, surprised about the powder coating though id have thought that would hold up the best, paint works in mysterious ways.
