A3 saloon retrofit folding mirrors

The modules are a strange one. I have the 5Q0 959 593E, 5Q0 959 592E
These are my factory modules and my car didn’t come with folding mirrors. I essentially replaced the housing and some coding then everything worked as expected.

No but thanks for offering. It was never that i didn’t have a working folding module. I had it when i got the mirrors from the beginning but explained that still errors can occur when its not exactly parametrized for the specific a3 model and also that you can’t exactly full rely on part numbers
 
Anyone got a step by step guide in how to fit these , had them
On my old a3 but s3 doesn’t have them . Should be able to source parts , seen a compete set including modules if mine are not suited

Hi Everyone I have finally done my folding mirror and all is working well, however does anybody have the coding for making them unfold on the remote, or if there is a way to make them unfold quicker when you turn on ignition

Say it stands, if I lock car and mirrors fold, get in start car mirrors take about 10 seconds to unfold and if I turn knob to make them fold it takes around 30 seconds for them to unfold

Anybody help me out ???

I couldn’t find any coding that unfolds on unlock. Think some of the other vag group car does it but none of my Audi’s have done it, at least I couldn’t figure it out.
Mine folds and unfolds in a few seconds so it could be something wrong with your mirrors or power getting to them. Definitely doesn’t take 10-30 seconds. They unfold before I can stick the gearstick in drive.
 
Hi i need some help. I recently installed folding mirror kit in my Audi A3 8V saloon 1.8 TFSI 2016 prefacelift. The problem that my modules dont support folding mirror, so i but used modules form audi a3 8v 2013 with this code 5Q0 959 593 A / 5Q0959592A, do you think they gonna work with only vcds coding or i gonna need configured with ODIS??

The modules are parametrized for those features. that means you can't easily code it through VCDS/OBD eleven of whatever.
You basically need high-version of the modules. But if you get used modules, the best bet is to ensure they come from an audi that also had electric folding mirrors. Then you still might need to turn some features on or off through coding based on your current specifications (since some other options are stored in that module as well).

My idea si copy long coding from my original modules, then copy via Vcds to the high version that buy used, and enabled folding option in long coding, do you think is gonna work??

That might work if that module is from an audi with electric folding mirrors installed from factory and otherwise.. there is a chance that it wont work.
Because i once had my original modules (That did not support folding mirrors) that had the sale module part number as the supposed high modules... so thats why i think its mainly whether its parametrized for that function or not.
If you look online for those modules, you can usually advertisements with the notice of supporting electric folding mirrors or not
 
im planning to do installation myself , can anyone gide me how to code mirrors ?

I will order VCDS :) and install parts
 
Hi, I retrofitted today folding mirrors and auto dimming mirrors to my car.
Auto dimming mirrors works, but folding not.
Quick question: enable folding mirrors via carista should be enough (not working to me) or I need code them via vcds?

it isn't enough

I searched app for android with long coding option, because I don't have vcds and I found "car scanner". I wanted to check that carista did not set something or my mirrors (both) not work.
Carista sets bit 6 in byte 4 "comfort mirror folding active", but not bit 4 "foldable mirrors installed". I set bit 4 via "car scanner" and mirrors works now.
Another question: if my mirrors work, should I code something more?

After using.carista i got setting in my MMI for.powerfolding mirorrs

Yes, I have correct modules (like was mentioned in this thread) and mirrors works now.
I too got option in mmi after I had used carista and same I though it is enough, but yesterday after retrofit it did not worked.
I asked in forum to get quick answer, but meanwhile I found "car scanner" app and I saw that carista did not set bit 4.
I have all bits/values set in modules like was mentioned in this thread, but I started with carista and now I don't know that I should modify something else (in case carista could set something that it shouldn't) .

Some options are free, but at start I paid for pro version (much cheaper than carista) and I don't know now that coding option is free or not. You must try free version.

Bit 0-3 is a fixed part with the drop down box.

I set/checked everything with that post above.
I don't remember now and I have car in garage, but it was something like that:
- after got connection I selected mqb platform (it was first probably)
- I selected long coding (I selected polish language and I try translating that I remember from yesterday)
- I selected module 42 and set bit 4 in byte 4 and saved it
- I selected module 52 and set bit 4 in byte 4 and saved it
- Everything else it had been already set

App is intuitive but with long coding it hasn't got description for all bits/bytes like in vcds screens
 
hey guys, is there anyway to tell without taking the door card off. To find out if I have the correct modules fitted. its 2018 8v saloon black edition with virtual cockpit. I'm looking at giving the retrofit a go

Mines a 2018 sport back black edition with tech pack(vc) and my modules was the correct modules.

I am looking at getting the parts to do the retrofit. have you done the retrofit? I've read it involves some form of plastic welding when putting the switch fascia in the door card.
I'm confident installing the parts but will need help in the Glasgow area to do the coding as I don't have VCDS.

I did the retrofit on mine. Wasn’t too bad. I didn’t change the trim on the door for the switch. Just swap them over. Still works just doesn’t have the fold symbol.
Did coding with obd11 as I couldn’t code it with the older vcds cable, it’s around £40 which is cheaper than the newer vcds.

Hello guys . I recently bought all the parts and replaced them . I haven't do coding yet is planned for tomorrow. But the mirrors working on switch now. Just i have problems with windows and locking.
About locking every time I lock it make a sound like double locking i mean before it did "tsk" now is doing "tsksksk" .
Also i had enabled before replacing the auto locking after 20/km/h with old modules it worked fine just locked once when I reached the certain speed. Now every time I am reaching it it lock the doors even though they are already locked.
For example I am starting reaching 50 (its locking) then stopping reaching again and its locking again and so on.
Now about the windows I used to lock the car and remotely close the windows now i can't do it its not working. Same was with unlocking and opening now when I try to open the windows remotely the drivers opens fully the passengers not fully the passengers behind driver opens to but the passengers behind side passengers won't open at all .

Hi I have a similar Situation with my folding mirror retrofit, I changed the module bucause my car from factory doesn’t have the folding mirror option but now that I coded and everything is accepted, the lock and unlock button is not working also the automatic up and down either, did anyone have an idea of whats going on in this case?

I have the 5Q0959392 and 393 E and replace it for the B, mine is an Audi A3 1.2T 2018 Saloon

@Luisfoav my idea is to try copy the long code from old modules and paste to new then adding the mirrors adaptions. Could you try it ?because currently I do not have vcds .
