Hi all,

I’m new here!

So, I have a 2007 Audi A4 B7 2.0Tdi Avante.
I have recently decided to upgrade my head unit to something more modern so bought an Xtrons head unit. Plug & play... I wired it in, it all works as it should, apart from a very annoying humming noise which gets worse when the headlights are on. Coming here is my last resort before I lose my mind so please help! Lol I’ve checked every ground on the car pretty much they’re all good and solid! I’ve tried an in-line filter, didn’t work. I’ve tried a single ground loop isolated between the RCA’s, didn’t work. I know that it’s not the speakers. Its a problem between the radios amplifier and the Bose amplifier but I have no idea how to solve this without rewiring all the speakers.
Any suggestions would be very appreciated!?

Can't help cure it but I did have one of those xtron units in a mk1 Octavia vrs and it did the same thing!

Xtrons have an adapter for this, ask them for this.

Out of interest, have you tried unplugging the aerial from the back of the headunit?
Had EXACTLY the same problem with mine and despite extensive fault finding, adapters, filters, ground loops and even a bit of rewiring earths at the rear of the car, never managed to get rid of it. Unplugged the aerial connection and it vanished. Never used FM anyway (let alone with the internet options available on the new HU), so just run without it now.
The OCD part of me is unsatisfied to have not found and fixed the precise issue, but came to the conclusion that the aerial wiring was somehow picking up interference from the less than ideal earthing situation at the rear of the car (also an Avant btw).

I’m just about to buy an A4 B7 and want to change the head unit straight away for something more modern. If I get this head unit will it work with the screen on the dashboard?
