Happy new year peeps may god bless you with a year of fault free problems on your cars.. highly unlikely anyway as I’m currently doing a front mount intercooler I have today realised while doing the pipework that it will cover up the towing eye and I do need it as I go on track days, does anyone have any knowledge of how i can recreate one ?

Got any pictures mate? What size intercooler are you installing, you miss the towing eye with a “Wellycooler” Toyo Type B 600x300mm. Which would be classed as a big Intercooler. The inlet and outlet would be below it.

Only one I’ve got perhaps I’ve got it too high then I did pop the bumper up in place to see where the pipe work fits in the fogs and seemed central

I’ll get some more tomorrow I’ll have a look at some more pics of peoples wellycoolers

Yeah I went off the original photos when people first done it so I’ll get the bumper back in place tomorrow and see how much I can lower it it’s very close I must admit

Mines basically almost touching the bumper at the bottom. You hoping to retain the fog lights?

Nah I’ve already cut them out I’m not bothered I’ll just lower it as close I can to the tow eye with it in come to think of it

That’s fair enough yeah just lower it enough to miss it.

I’ll send some pics in tomorrow hopefully it will be back up and running

I’d end up having to butcher the bumper

Hmmmm, I guess you can squeeze the pipe enough to wind the towing eye in? What size pipework are you using?

Just cutting out some more to see if I can get away with lowering it more

I’m thinking cut the bottom at an angle so it goes right on

That looks good enough to me mate, there will be minimal movement on the towing eye once it’s wound in anyway.

Use a cable tie on the pipe to mark it exactly where you want it and cut to the cable tie, gives a nice finish

I use 2.5 inch 62mm boost pipe on my TT so not so many issues. But I have found the Towing eye from my B8 A4 fits perfectly and it's a lot longer without the large boss at the head of the screw that gets in the way. You can pick them up cheap off fleabay. Screw the other one in the rear of the car.

Just noticed the end of your power steering cooler lying on the ground in the one picture. Mine wasn't that rusty and corroded and started leaking not long ago. On track steering works pretty hard and you may find an issue with it leaking.

Hell Karl, talk about Eagle eyes! Well spotted that man. I can vouch for that pipe leaking with far less rust. Smallest pinhole emptied my power steering fluid reservoir.

Could you not fit the intercooler upside downside you have the inlet outlet at the top have seen that done before

I didn’t try it but tbh I’ve cut the bumpers now I’m not really that fussed I’ll look after the car as best as I can and I don’t abuse cars but let’s face it mines worth 2k I’m not really too bothered if it was in good nick I would of tried another option
