Oh she’s pretty warm! Haha.... 1.75 bar is good. Didn’t realise you don’t get 99 Ron over there, maybe you can get an octane booster and map it to that, would mean you having to always run it on that to get the full benefits though. I know Badger5 were trailing out a new octane booster with good success.

Yeah mate they wont put a refinery here for.the 99 ron so 97 ron bp ultimate is the best we get.
Dont think I'll bother with any booster I'll just get it mapped with the meth and leave it at that then do the suspension upgrades.

They are not as good as the SEM, that sets the benchmark. I don't think you would see a great improvement over a standard small port manifold.

There are some pictures of various manifolds next to each other on Badger 5's facebook. The 034/grams manifold is quite small in comparison to the SEM and IE. A smaller collector volume and both the IE and Grams have shorter intake tracts. The intake tract length helps low down torque .

Cheers mate I'll check out his fb page and have a look over them.
Would there be much gains to be had on a k04-380 if I was able to source SEM one? Considering what they can go for over the benefits of what I would get power wise. Are they more suited to big turbo builds?

I saw some gains with the one I bought from Tuffty mate, I’d say they do help, more so on the big turbo stuff though.

Give Chris McDermott (s3 breaker) a shout and tell him to put you down for one if any of his breakers have one worth a try

My original engine build made 511 bhp with a standard small port BAM manifold wih a 75mm TB. I found an SEM for £500 but they are like rocking horse poo. I really didn't notice much on the logs in terms of airflow, calculated torque or power when I swapped them over. It will improve power / torque over a standard item but cams would give you more .

I think Karl’s got a point, had Tufftys custom one not turned to for sale I probably wouldn’t have bought a larger inlet manifold. My additional gains were a combination of Tufftys inlet manifold, 2nd water meth nozzle and a couple other things. 30-40bhp gains when it was all remapped with ignitron. I think you’ll just be doing what I was doing a chasing numbers to try and get as close to 400bhp as possible. I managed 391bhp in the end. If I were you mate, enjoy the car for a while then build up to going big turbo.

However I have found this one, which has very large runners, not long though like SEM.

Yeah I suppose that's probably the best thing to do is just enjoy it for a good few months and then see if I'm still happy with it or do I want more.
A suspension refresh is the next job to be done and maybe change the alloys.
Thanks for the info lads much appreciated

That manifold is just a Chinese copy of the Grams/ 034 item. There are a few around like that. I have read reviews where people have bought them and the quality is not good.
You can buy a genuine Grams manifold for not much more.

Another Chinese copy Grams.

I figured as much, it’s a shame the Chinese don’t copy the SEM manifold, someone is missing a trick there. I suppose getting a Chinese copy of the Grams/034 is a starting point, someone good with fab work could potentially make it into something better.

You Jammy ******! Well done mate, to be fair..... you should hold the number 1 position with that result on 97 Ron and only 50/50 meth! Everyone else was on 99 Ron and up to 80/20 meth. That’s a very happy engine. Guess that means I’m 5th position now?!

Top job mate...that must feel good and even better when you're sat in it.

I bet you’re looking forward to the drive home

I bet it won't take long :respekt:

100% happy with them figures. Not sure why it was done with 50/50 and not 80/20. I'm sure there was a reason for it anyway.
Would having 99 ron instead of the 97 ron I have to use made that much of a difference?
@tcg unfortunately I haven't got to drive it yet hopefully wont be long until I do

3 Ron higher mate would make a slight difference, higher octane more power... it’s certainly done very very well on 97 Ron. A surprise to everyone, 50/50 meth is the normal ratio “safest” usually others like myself wanting more power will use the 80/20 meth ratio.

Goes to show that the standard inlet manifold is more than capable!

Does make you wonder what it’ll achieve on 99 Ron and a larger inlet manifold.... but in all fairness, enjoy it where it’s at.

When you decide to want more, go G25-550/660 next

What’s the spec on your engine internals ? And what intercooler? It must be the Audi R8 exhaust you have on it ?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's a good result. I wouldn't really want to run more than 50/50 meth as a lot of people have the meth container in the car and above 50/50 it is flammable. Plus it's expensive if you are running it a lot.

@desertstorm I will probably just keep it 50/50 since it seems to be running fine on that. My meth tank is in the boot I thought that's where most people run them from.
@S3AMJ yeah I dont see me doing much else to the engine in the near future unless of course a sem manifold pops up for sale. Then after that the next logical step would be a G25
@Brad1011 the engine internals are super tech inlet and exhaust valves, gold cat cam springs, new rings, standard pistons,na inlet cam exhaust one wasnt needed I think that's it.The intercooler is a airtec which again is a surprise it made that figure as people say they are restive and the exhaust is a 3" downpipe pipe from pipewrex it did have a sports cat from there on aswell but Bill has made it into a v-band and a de-cat v-band aswell for mot. The rest of the exhaust is 3" on back with quad tips. O and the green pipes definitely helped out

Airtec intercooler as well!? It really goes go to show the difference between an engine that’s in a happy place, doing all the right things and an engine like my old engine, I was throwing EVERYTHING at it and it was becoming harder and harder for the engine to respond. You’ve really done well there Marc buzzing for you.

Thanks mate can't wait to get over for it. He has a couple more bits of wiring to finish of then it will be ready.
Didnt you take a airtec one out of ur k04-380 build and put in a bigger one?
@Brad1011 for got to say it's also got zrp rifle drilled rods in.

Yeah I use to have an Airtec in mine, from memory mine made 347bhp with the airtec, single water meth nozzle and standard inlet manifold. Then got 391bhp changing the inlet manifold and 70mm throttlebody, 2nd water meth injector and Wellycooler. So a gain of 44bhp with those changes...... still I had to do all that to get to 391bhp, you’ve managed without.

Think I need to start gathering parts soon must be great fun to drive but I suppose you’ve gotta draw the line somewhere can’t wait to even make mine stage 2 hopefully In the next few weeks should be a lot more fun even just having decent brakes and the anti roll bars it’s so much more enjoyable, what’s the power delivery like on the hybrid does it pull a lot more further through the Rev range ?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's very hard to draw the line lol. The power delivery on the graph shows the power on up just over 7000rpm I dont think a standard one still has the power for so long.

Depends on the engine really, my peak power was all the way at around 7000rpm where as Marcs is around 6500rpm. The idea of a hybrid is basically you limit the chance of “lag” over a larger turbo if not reducing spool on some cars but are capable of way more power. A standard K04 would probably choke at around 300-310bhp where as the K04-380 hybrid has been able to achieve anywhere between 340-430bhp again depending on the engine and supporting mods.

This is then when you get the G25-550 on a 2.0 Stroker. As Badger5 have tested, spool of a K03s but capable of over 500bhp

How long will it take the machine shop to sort out ur head for the build? Is everything else you need there for it for when the head does come back and then straight on to building it?

It’s my block that’s been sent off mate for line boring. I’ve no idea if I’m honest, not heard any updates. I’m assuming it’s all in hand and I’ll be getting my car back soon. When do you think you’ll be going to collect yours?

O right mate sorry I thought it was the head was away.
I spoke to Bill yesterday and he said he had to wire in the switch for the maps and the boost gauge and a bit of road driving then it will be ready.
I'd like to think I'll get over for it next week. Even though we have just went into a 6 week lockdown flights and boats are all running as normal. I'll just need to find out if any travel is affected over near Bill that would stop me getting there. I'll speak with him when I know it's ready and see where we are at.

Keep me posted dude, I’ll try and pop up if it’s on a Saturday or something

What switch are you using to change maps? I’m going to need a switch as I want my cruise working which is the normal map switch that Bill uses.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He said he would put me a switch up where the esp button is but not sure what kind it's going to be. I didnt want the pedals way of changing the maps I thought a switch would be better.

Ah ok, be interesting to see what switch he uses, I want a simple switch by the ESP switch as well. Easy way to see what map I’m in....... wastegate pressure map (valet mode) wet road map (low) and race map (high) so like a 3 way switch or something.

Not yet, as far as I’m aware. I know it’s something that Tuffty mentioned a little while ago. Might come out in the next firmware update.....

Pretty easy to create a temporary valet mode by just adjusting the rev limiter. Set it to 3500 rpm. Car is still perfectly driveable just not very fast.
