Hey
As my cover is scratched and the Audi signs are peeling off I have come accross a company who make carbon and OEM ones with Leather or Alacantra for less than 140.00

Since new ones are this price and possibly over, I think its a good deal.

Anyway, I dont think its something I will be able to tackle myself due to no coding or experience with Airbags.

How much do you think a garage would charge to fit it?

I dont want to buy it and then realise its going to costs £200.00 to fit.

If you are referring to the steering wheel airbag cover, I’d think twice about going for a third party one - IIRC the airbag bursts through the cover so wouldn’t want to be smacked in the face by a 3rd party cover coming off at high speed.

They are a professional well established company who make very expensive steering wheels. I assume if its not safe they would not be in business in the UK.
Its berg tuning.

I did change an airbag cover for a friend of mine, he had the 4 spoke steering wheel and got a deal on a 3 spoke with paddle shifters, so instead of sourcing an entire round airbag, we just swapped the covers as airbag itself was the same. No coding nor special tools were required, just the courage to work with somethig that could blow in your face.

The carbon fibre version i believe are for show only. I assume they would have no internals. Carbon fibre shards exploding on activation would be extremely detrimental to your face.

I think it states on their site they are for off road use only. That covers them (pardon the pun) from any libel that might come their way.

Swapping covers is ok, done quite a few, but fitting material of a kind in its place, that's a major mistake for reasons already advised.

Check for documentation confirming that they meet all required safety regulations

Do you have the 4 spoke steering wheel?

probs better changing wheel and airbag even to the non flat bottom 3 spoke sport type, looks soo much better than the 4 spoke wheel

Cupholder light..I'm thinking of doing this mod got my lead off Robina3 having looked at my existing cupholder I don't see where it has the insert that I see people removing once they've separated it am I missing something?

Can you change cover because my is also scratch because the 1st owner put some carbon adhesive sticker on that and I remove it because it is dangerous if airbag deployed. Do you have maybe the article nummber or anyone here Im looking to change also my airbag and horn cover.

I will ask them.
They do ones that are alacantra all over, or they have them in the centre with the Audi rings ect.
I am not getting carbon fibre, I dont need shards of that all over my face, but I am sure they mentioned on their site these are for off road use only, so they must do ones for on road.

I 100% want them safe, so need to ensure they blow properly if needed.

Yes mine has the thick type square centre with 4 posts

I would like to get a new wheel, but by the time I pay for a excellent condition one with install, I might as well buy a custom wheel from Berg Tuning.

Its a shame, something so small like the Silver rings and surrounds are so cheap that they peel away, is so expensive to put right.

I am sure if I had the patience and masked it all up I could spray spray paint the silver surround and rings, but life is too short.

Even a custom 4 spoke wheel isn’t going to look great.

fit it yourself it’s no biggy. Should get one for £250-300 for a non flat bottom type. Probably even cheaper to be fair.

Yeah seems a lot just to replace the silver rings and outside silver bit.

I will speak to Berg tuning to ensure they are Airbag compliant.

A lot of their pictures have the airbag symbol on their custom covers, so if it was not safe or road legal, why put that symbol on the cover?

I did not think of asking them at the time as I just assumed they were ligit due to the airbag symbol.

Spoke with Berg Tuning and their leather and Alacantra covers are all 100% road legal and airbag compliant.
Guess what I am buying in the new year
I am debating on full Alacantra, or just the center alacantra with grey/black audi rings and surround.

If I go full I can get some nice red stitching to match the inside.
