My 4WD is down on my Audi s3 8V 2015. It is currently operating on FWD, anyone know what the issue might be. I have been told I will need to replace the Haldex unit. Anyone else had a similar issue?

Get it scanned with vcds, its more likely to be the haldex pump rather than the entire unit

^^as above^^
Known issues are the haldex pump screen clogging up and the car becomes essentially a FWD. It can be cleaned and oil replaced. Not too expensive. If it been left too long it may have starved the pump, requiring a new pump. Circa £200.

Who told you an Audi main dealer or an independent specialist?

Do a quick search will find loads of info

How to fix it, and avoid Audi unless your under warranty

I had it scanned but no error codes, the control module on Haldex was also reading, any thoughts on this?

I had it scanned but no error codes on VCDS? Any thoughts... I was told maybe it’s mechanical rather than electrical?

I would personally get the pump out. Clean the gauze. New oil and try the car. If it still spins up. Its likely to be the pump.

Will give that a go and wish for the best

If you have VCDS you can log parameters (from Ox22 blockmap) to narrow the diagnosis : what are the axle/wheel deltas; is there a signal to actuate the pump/clutch; is the pump pumping or at least drawing current.
Lots of info on the web but very anecdotal and heavily weighted to the "toonah" crowd.

Pump and oil replaced, FWD back on! Noticed the difference straight away on power, no spinning from the front either. Thank you everyone for the help :)

Out of interest what mileage is your car on, and has it always had the haldex oil changed at the recommended intervals? I’m just trying to understand if all of us can expect this job at some point, or whether it’s preventable with more frequent oil changes.

Best to expect it to be honest, but its not an expensive job thankfully. Whether more frequent oil changes (every 10k) sorts the problem remains to be seen.
