Got error message whilst driving 'Adblue system error, no re-start permitted in 650 miles.' Or words to that effect. So I shat myself, at night on M6 in driving rain, traffic everywhere, low on fuel. Parked up in service station, engine running, because if you read the error message literally perhaps you wouldn't be able to re-start after stopping engine for fuel. Read manual and I think they mean 'no re-start permitted after 650 miles ' . So you can stop/start/drive the car for another 650 miles as you wish but after that the car is dead, presumably to protect some part of the emissions system.

Anyone else have this ? Reading the net apparently the easiest fix is dealer software reset, worst case float is stuck in adblue reservoir needing strip down if refilling doesn't correct it. Car is 9.8k miles '19 reg, never messaged me for top-up in the 12 months I have owned it, shows nothing is needed on the MyAudi App either. Am I right in thinking it is impossible to check Adblue level ?

Going into Liverpool Audi next Wednesday.

Implications of this are horrific -- why does the car have the right to shutdown over an emissions issue. Really put me off these cars again. I am losing patience. Seriously I may sell for a non adblue car Any thoughts anyone ?

Never had this error message appear on my 40 TDI Quattro (done around 11k miles). I had to top up with adblue at around 8k miles.

Since you've owned the car (i assume from brand new), have you had to fill up with adblue at all? If not, then indeed the true adblue level *might* be low and the vehicle's adblue sensor might not be correctly reporting it. Otherwise it might just be a one off error, but definitely worth getting it checked over with Audi for peace of mind.

That’s normal, I’ve seen that on the C7 saloon and on the C8 Avant. When it gets low enough it will give a warning to fill up and after x miles the engine won’t restart. Amazon is about £12 for 10ltrs.

I had this on my C7. In the end it seemed to be down to some software tolerance issues and after resetting everything the dealer took the car for a good thrash down the A3 and after about 20 miles it cleared. Hopefully the dealer will be able to find the fault and get it sorted quickly

Mine came up at about 15k saying fill adblue - 1200m left. I just bought 20l and poured it in. You will struggle to get a diesel car without adblue unless you go for an older model.

Chap that I used to work with stopped his A6 at our site gate to check in, when he tried to restart the car it just turned over and wouldn’t start. It turned out he’d gone past the limit for the Adblue so he dropped 10l in and it restarted.
